This may be a general 5.0 complain, but my problems with the game begin with the new races introduced in the Shadowbringers expansion - the Viera and the Hrothgar.

For many years I've told friends that I didn't care how much it cost or whatever hoops I'd have to jump through, when they introduced rabbits, I was going to be a bunnyboi. Alas, twas not to be. The Viera are female-only and the Hrothgar are male-only, which to me is a really unimportant decision that was made to appeal to a small group of people that are dedicated to the lore rather than give the freedom of decision to the millions of people that play the game. I'd have played with a Viera since you could easily just throw on a set of armor and pretend, but these limited gender races come with an extra feature of not being able to wear headgear aside from visors or full-head altering helmets. Not only do you not get free choice of gender, but you can't have the race you want wear the complete outfit of the class you're leveling if that class has proper headgear. These two factors combined make both of the new races, in my head, non-options. It's embarrassing to see this.

Secondly, since the Heavensward classes came out, I'd always been partial to the AST and had worked tirelessly to raise its level and use this single class to progress through the story line. It was absolutely the most fun class I'd tested out and enjoyed it thoroughly, so putting my problems with the new races aside, I updated my subscription and purchases the new expansion to continue on with the AST class. However, having left the surprises up in the air, I was no prepared for the dumpster fire that was the AST overhaul. The class had fallen from a multi-faceted team-buff machine to a generic and sincerely weak DPS babysitter. The class is weak and it belongs to a role that it is completely and unequivocally beaten out of in utility by both SCH and WHM.

Everything that I had expected to see was not only taken away, but bastardized in the most slap-face way possible. Devs should be ashamed of what they put out and if it weren't such a pain in the neck, I'd have gotten my money back in full. Instead, I'll eat the cost, use what time I have, and very likely give up on something I used to like.

I have upwards of 800 hours played on this game and that's considered super low among the community. There are more than a few people who have well over 2,000 hours and still don't have everything the game has to offer - completely free of charge. It's not as much of an RPG as some might prefer, but it'll give you hours of farming to get closer to a level that is considered "well off". If you're someone that can farm indefinitely for better gear, this is the game for you.
