As you can see there is a large difference between Weebs and Otakus. Think of it as the Weebs are the dark side, complete nut heads, the Otakus are the friendly ones who love to chat about their favourite anime and manga and wont go all Japan on your ass.

Main Differences:
Weeaboo: Obsessed with Japan
Otaku: Obsessed with Anime, Manga and Video games
Weeaboo: Wishes they were Japanese or had Japanese origins
Otaku: Like their own culture and don't wish to change that
Weeaboo: Try to learn Japanese off of anime, usually failing (looking like a complete ass to their culture and the Japanese culture)
Otaku: If they really want to learn Japanese, they take classes and know what they are saying
Weeaboo: Use Japanese words whenever possible "That's so kawaii"
Otaku: Speak normally

weeaboo Otaku tries to use proper Japanese grammar, but weeaboo uses Japanese words wrong and in English sentence otaku intrigued by Japanese culture and are passionate about anime, manga and video games, but weeaboo overly obsessed with Japan and are insane anime fangirl/fanboy and a Otaku doesn't "fangirl" in public, if ever, and if they write fan fiction or make fan art they do it with a professional attitude and they respect other peoples' opinions, but weeaboos have "fangirl moments" at anytime, anywhere, and in front of anyone and they fan fiction and fan art is created basically out of pure over active hormones and in the opinions its their way or the highway and an Otaku enjoys the plot, characters, etc. in an anime. and usually can have interests outside of anime, but weeaboos only enjoy the "sugoi kawaii desu!!!!11 guy/girl and usually has no other interests
