CS:GO Review
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is hard.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is hard because of the meta. Counter Strike, the franchise, is over a decade old. Players have combed these games from tip to tail, figuring out everything from which weapon to buy to which place is best to rest their cross-hairs. Your first game will be full of these players, and they have no interest in taking it easy on you. You will be flash-banged, wall-banged, pre-fired and jiggle-peeked before, most likely, turning the game off in frustration.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is hard because of the mechanics. Nobody likes doing homework, but CSGO is the kind of game that requires research before you can improve. If you want to go toe-to-toe with the guy dinking you from across mid, It's up to you to learn how the in-game economy works, which weapons to use, how to throw nades, and what 'dinking' and 'mid' even mean. You'll probably get fed up watching middling youtube tutorials, but not as fed up as when you join another game to get your skull emptied again, and so you stick with it.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is hard because of your teammates. Now that you know the game like the back of your hand, matchmaking continues to set you up with four ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who couldn't count how many fingers they have on each hand. While you issue directives and relay callouts, they whiff shots and bait kills. Maybe you fight back through trash-talk or team-kills, no matter what you do the frustration follows you.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is hard because life is hard. Improving yourself is hard. Working with others is hard. Taking a break, stepping back from the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, is hard. But lots of things are only worthwhile because they're hard. Struggle is rewarded in equal measures frustration and exhilaration, you can only focus on one. Why focus on the former? It's only a game, and games are meant to be fun. Try having some!
