Shadowhand is a very good solitaire game. The gameplay itself is pretty typical for the genre: cards are randomly placed in pre-designed layouts of overlapping cards and your job is to clear the level by removing them before expending your entire draw deck. To remove a card, it must be one number higher or lower than the current face-up card on your deck. If you can string together a sequence before having to draw another card, you generate bonuses like gold multipliers and extra damage in boss fights.

Wait, boss fights? Yep. Shadowhand is a story of a Lady in 18th Century England who must present herself as a highway-woman in order to uncover the nefarious plot against her. And often, she will have to fight. The card mechanic is similar to the normal levels, but you will be alternating turns with a boss, removing cards, attacking, and defending. Last one standing wins.

To aid you in your quest, you will gather clothing and weapons (lots of clothing and weapons) you can equip. There are quite a few different types too, from ranged to melee, with different synergies with different outfits so there is some replayability added here.

As it is solitaire and cards are shuffled and randomly drawn, expect to replay levels a lot after confronted with what may be unwinnable layouts. Nature of the beast.

The art and music are beautiful though the music tracks are limited, so it will get repetitive. The story is decent - it plays very much like a historical drama delivered via a visual novel.

There's a lot of solitaire to be had here: over 150 levels, a variety of locations so you aren't staring at the same background the entire game, and challenging fights that sometimes will get your petticoat in a bind.

Overall, highly recommended.
