This game is RCT 1 & 2 repackaged together and upgraded for modern hardware. Whilst I often see people saying OpenRCT is the definitive version of these games I feel this version is best for anyone who doesn’t want to mess with mods and just click install & play.

Onto gameplay, classic simple yet at times complex roller coaster tycoon gameplay is here. Theme Park was first and more management heavy whilst Roller Coaster Tycoon was more focused on the building your dream park. The game utilises a simple grid system for placing objects and has a ride building window that is highly visual and makes understanding what is happening easy. The graphics are bright, colourful and cute. The isometric camera angle which can be rotated and zoomed in and out is simple enough kids don’t get lost. I have gotten various relatives on the game over the years including a four year old cousin and they have all quickly picked it up.

The sound direction is pretty simple environmental noise wise and adds to the atmosphere. You also have the option to add songs to rides which I personally don’t do.

This series was a big influence on Planet Coaster and Parkitect, if you are a fan of either it is totally worth trying.
