On paper this is extremely up my alley. In practice, it's a disappointment.

It's *fine*, but it's very thin. It's like you took Dicey Dungeons and swapped out the game theme to use playing cards. The builds shown off in the trailer take a long time (and a lot of luck) to get. Most of the time you get too few opportunities to pick up items to really make a build prior to the third area. And for a game supposedly themed after poker, poker hands are not all that common and there is absolutely no bidding. I would have LOVED something that let me put down chips or some other resource to add risk/reward to a fight. If I could all-in for a turn where I either draw what I need or die immediately, I'd take that as well.

Additionally, unlike Dicey Dungeons, there's no way to try to nudge your hand into what you need. There are no suit transmutations, number adjustments, or anything, just raw card draw, abilities that let you draw more random cards, and a prayer that you actually get that pair this time.

It needs to put out way more interaction with the player in order to feel more like a game and less like getting your ass beat at the first level of WSOP because you never studied hand odds.
