Gameplay: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (BoI:R) is an action roguelite that takes place in a dungeon with layouts similar to the earlier 2D Zelda games. The room battles are quite fast paced, but you can take your time elsewhere (depending on your run's focus). In BoI:R, you choose among various options (e.g. character, difficulty, and mode) and do a run of the game with the attempt to beat the final boss. If you die, your run ends. However, like many roguelites, there is some progression. In this game, you can unlock different characters to use in future runs and items that will also show up in future runs. Overall, I quite enjoy the combat and gameplay in BoI:R.

Pacing: The pacing, in this game, is very non-linear from the start (somewhat depending on your skill and playthrough choices). It can be a difficult and intense game and, while quite rewarding, is not always a relaxing experience.

Replayability: This game has a significant amount of gameplay and content in it. While I only have just over 12 hours logged in the Steam version, I have hundreds of hours in the PS4 version. After having played for around three (3) years, on and off, I feel I'm running into new content all of the time. I feel like this is easily a 250+ hour game if you try to 100% complete it (which, for my skill level, looks to be a daunting task). The Afterbirth and Afterbirth+ DLC add an incredible amount of content to this game. With the upcoming Repentance DLC, which includes content from the huge Antibirth fan-made mod, the game is going to significantly grow in size and replayability.

Overall: I highly recommend this game to anyone that enjoys fast-paced roguelites and/or Zelda-style dungeons with endless replayability. This game is quite improved over the original Binding of Isaac. If you end up liking BoI:R, I recommend Enter the Gungeon which shares many similarities with this game.
