Single-player simulation and narrative-focused games are awesome. My favorite games are The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The Sims franchise, city simulation games like Banished, Anno 2070 and SimCity 4, and the Mass Effect trilogy. Occasionally, I'll play strategy games or RPGs. I rarely enjoy FPSs. When I do play games with lots of violence, I basically only do so if there's a strong female character to play, and a very well-developed, intricate story to keep my interest--like Mass Effect. I am not a fan of MMOs or games that require monthly subscription fees.

As an avid city simulation player, I was really pleased with Anno 2070. It has beautiful graphics, an intuitive UI (for the most part), interesting and challenging gameplay, and some unique overall qualities that set it apart from the rest of the numerous city simulations on the market. I've played every single SimCity franchise game, as well as Cities XL 2012, yet I was still pleasantly surprised at the quality of Anno 2070. The only drawbacks are that you must register for and update through Uplay (from Ubisoft), and it requires you to be online often, if not always--which I don't like. Overall, though, this is a great game.
