World Class Distro-Hopper
Distro Ratings (Last Updated 04/11/2026) Distros Used: 7
My Linux Distro Ratings:

Daily Driven Linux Mint (Cinnamon): 6/10
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good for day to day tasks, beginner friendly.
Not amazing for gaming, compatability is good
but lacks automatic updates (mostly for GPU drivers
and other stuff). Runs some Windows programs
well. Fair amount of DE support (Desktop Environment).
Overall a good distro for beginners.

Daily Driven Ubuntu (GNOME): 7/10
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Very beginner friendly, especially for those
who are used to touchscreen UIs. I only
used the GNOME DE while using this but
there is good customisation for the other
DEs that Ubuntu supports. Didn't run into
any problems while using it, great for gaming,
great for other day to day tasks, and very good
support for Windows programs with the out of
the box tools that Ubuntu comes with.

Daily Driven Fedora (KDE Plasma): 8/10
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just works, like acutally! Drivers, while still having to be
manually installed, had no problems when I got them working.
Very minor issues (as usual) with proton stuff, with an example
of stuff in CS:GO turning black (usually map models). I couldn't
find an exact reason for this but it was most likely proton messing
up for some reason, although this didn't happen with any other games.
Now and again there were some fps drops (usually in games released
before 2015) but this is expected when running older games through
compatability layers from my experience. Overall a strong distro
for both gamers and devs alike, would recommend!

Temporarily Used Debian (KDE Plasma): 7/10
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Very similar experience to Ubuntu, good selection
of DEs, good Windows app support (most of the time),
similar gaming experience to Ubuntu. Not extremely
beginner friendly, you have to download a good
amount of tools to get compatability for programs
and games yourself. Driver support is decent, didn't
run into any big problems. Overall a decent, well running
distro for a bunch of PCs.

Daily Driven CachyOS (KDE) 9/10
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Been using this for around 2 weeks (when writing this)
and the experience has been great. Everything comes
ready out of the box, compatability, drivers, programs,
literally everything. It has a MASSIVE collection of
supported DEs, and a very easy to navigate setup/
installation process. Not very beginner friendly, but
there are plently of tutorials to follow, although you
don't need a massive amount of experience to get
this running on your computer. I can't give it a 10/10
as now and again there are some small, confusing issues
(that I usually get fixed), but they are never anything
major or time consuming. Overall the best distro
I've used so far.

Temporarily Arch (GNOME) 8/10 + without archinstall
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good operating system for power users (not really me), good
for gaming although you do have to setup most of the gaming
stuff yourself. Very optimised if you set it up correctly, and if
you already have a good amount of experience with linux, setting
it up/installing it isn't as crazy as people make it out to be. It took
around an hour for me to set it up (with a tutorial) without using
archinstall (the easier method). Be very careful with AURs and
other packages/programs that are not well documented, but also
don't be scared to experiment with stuff! I also suggest making
backups now and again due to the "rolling-updates" nature of arch's
updates. Good distro overall, but very fidgety.

Virtual Machine LiberNT (No clue what DE) 6/10
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tried this out using GNOME boxes, looks like a pretty cool up and
coming distro for those who want to run windows stuff easily. It's a
fork of ReactOS (another "compatibility" distro) although it's main
use is to run windows 10 and above programs, so basically a more
modern version of ReactOS. I do not recommend daily driving it
right now due to it still being in a very, very early stage, but I
100% suggest trying it out on a vm of your choice!

Trying to use ReactOS (Story) ?/10
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More of a story rather than a review, but I want to put it on the list :D
I found an old pc laying around in my house and wanted to revive it.
Found out it was a computer from around 2003-2004, had no ram,
had an absolutely ancient CPU, and for some reason this looked
like gaming material (it was not). First I tried to install ReactOS as
it had windows 7 (windows xp originally), that didn't work after 7
attempts (haha get it, makes no sense nvm...) so I decided to install
debian 13 on it instead. I got the lxqt de on it, got minecraft running
at around 5 fps (pretty good for no gpu, 2gb ddr2 and a mega slow
hdd), so it was a success! I guess this should be "Trying to use
Debian", but it worked so it is not "review" worthy I guess. ReactOS
is probably pretty cool so I will try it out on a computer that actually
works with it in the future :D

What I use right now:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bazzite :D

My Advice:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't distro hop on your main computer, even if you backup files
in the cloud. From my experience it's an absolute waste of time
and effort having to install different distros (depending on what
they come with), re-installing programs and so on. Although I do
recommend using a different computer (such as an old laptop
or any lesser-used pc) and trying them out for yourself before
installing any distro to your main computer as this (in my opinion)
is a better way to analyse a distro's properties and "feel". I don't
actually know what I am talking about, I just like linux :D
