It is a fun game but it seems half-baked. I wouldn't recommend it now but I definitely can see it going from being a good game to a great one in the near future.

1. Relatively limited customization. You can't customize your weapon scopes (you are forced to use the awful scopes some weapons might have when ADS) or armour colour (mall nitpick, but why settle for mediocrity?).

2. It is quite grindy--I don't want to treat a game like a job to be able to enjoy different playstyles/weapons. This isn't so much of an issue itself, but the fact that it's oddly difficult to play with other people makes it so. I am almost always playing alone even after deploying an SOS beacon in a game centred around co-op. Getting randos together in a lobby shouldn't be so difficult in a game where you're looking for dumb fun.

3. I have to pay for super credits in a game I already paid for. And no, the things you can get are NOT cosmetic only. Some weapons are locked behind a paywall. After you pay up, you gotta grind again. "Farming" super credits was also clearly not intended by the devs given how they patch these exploits. Only a shill would defend premium currency in a paid game.

5. It is buggy. I'm sure this will get better with time but seeing 500 kg bombs frequently doing nothing to nests even when exploding immediately on top of them is a massive oversight.

6. Balance could use work.

7. Sony did some stupid ♥♥♥♥ and might try it again in the future.

It has top notch customization. You can modify almost every element of most of your firearms. You can modify a gun's receiver, barrel, muzzle, stock, sight, bullet types, and colour. You can also throw on trinkets on them. The customization doesn't stop there: you can also modify your character. There is a wide variety of helmets, body armours, and leg armours to choose from. You can equip different gears in different slots. You can even modify what you can buy at the depot (a "store" that is found within games where you can buy things such as hardsuits with the points you've gotten from kills, assists, objectives...).

It has superb optimization. It is also very friendly towards free players. Essentially everything can be bought with free currency. It also is not plagued with RNG elements like many F2P games (and even paid games). In BLR, all guns are very quick to kill. TTK is superb, although this makes all guns feel the same. Combine the fast TTK with essentially no recoil and you get stale, boring weapons. The skill ceiling is pretty close to the ground.

The gameplay is really fast. In BLR, you are forced to fight or die. HRV is a unique gameplay mechanic that definitely adds to the charm of BLR.

That said:
The game has a dead community. There are updates (and bug fixes) every century. There is virtually no depth to the game. There is almost no story. It comes off as "just the casual F2P FPS", which is sort of strange considering how well-made the game is.

I'll tell you the bad things about this game.

Combat:

The combat is a little bit clumsy. There may be some combo for certain weapons, but those combos get very repetitive after a while. You can only direct your attacks for some weapons.

Firearms in this game use your "energy", rather than ammo. If you like to shoot things like me, you might get turned off by this.

The weapons are randomly generated. You can find weapons of all shapes and sizes. Weapons can come with "specials", such as a grenade launcher or a flashlight. What I don't like about the "random aspect" is that there is no upgrading. This may be nitpicking, but I really hate ugly weapons. When I find a good looking gun, I want to upgrade it. Customization isn't really there. You just have to scour planets and hope to get a gun that suits your needs. You can circumvent the lack of ingame customization with admin mode.

Also, where are the bosses outside of stories? I wouldn't mind killing hordes of demon space wasps and their queen.

Exploration, Questing, and Story:

There isn't too much variety when you find settlements. Once you explore all of the current "settlements", you'll find that there isn't much in terms of variety. Where are the HUMAN cities? Surely planets other than Earth would have human cities. Where are the docking bays? People get to places somehow. What about randomly generated battlefields? What about massive gypsie camps? What about random derelict space vessels that contain enemies? There are lots of things that can be added here. The planets themselves have quite a bit of variety at first, but it would be nice if the developers continued to push the variety.

I think the story is like moldy bread. It's just awful. There is almost no character development. There's not much to tell about the story because it's quite plain. Don't buy this game if you're in it for the story. I know the Novakids are a "new" species, but where is their involvement Are they just that mundane?

Questing feels inadequate. You complete menial tasks for people, only to be given a goodie bag. These goodie bags, more than not, contain nothing but garbage that you'll sell later.

All of that said, I think the game is worth buying. The game is beautiful and simple.

Stressless game. Lots to explore and do--alone or with friends.

The game has beautiful visuals, solid response, and a wide variety of weapons and planes to fit a certain niche. There are many gamemodes, and poor latency also doesn't seem to impact the gameplay too much. When playing online, there are many competent players, which makes the game very difficult (for me, at least). The game is very quick and casual, as you can join a game almost instantaneously, and leave without any consequences. It does not track K/D ratio, which can be a plus depending on how you view games. There is a "Brawl Journal" which records the amount of kills and wins you have, as well as your level. Currently, there are no rewards for levelling up (besides bragging rights, and being feared by weaker players such as myself).

On the other hand, the game still has flaws. The music cuts in and out at seemingly random intervals, and the game crashes on rare occasions. There are not a lot of maps, but the quality of the ones in the base game compensate for this. When playing TDM, it's almost impossible to tell whether or not you're aiming at your team mate until you get close enough to see their plane enclosed in a barely-noticeable [light-green] rhombus. There is no team balance whatsoever when playing on team-based gamemodes - situations where you're the only one facing *dozens* of badass pilots can happen. The tutorial is decent, but the tutorial map itself is very confusing, as most of it is blank space - initially, I could not tell where I was at all. Combined with difficult [default] controls, new players (that do not pay attention to settings) will almost certainly have difficulty playing. The price is also unjust for a *small* package, and I think that the game would develop a greater playerbase much quicker if the price was dropped to the likes of $2.5-$5 USD. Most of these issues are easy to fix, and I'd assume that there will be a patch regarding these issues in the near-future.

One thing I suggest for the game is customization. Planes could be team-colored/reskined, and Steam Workshop support would be interesting. Game setting should also be able to be tweaked, so that people can play absurd games where you can use only toxic gas.

Are you bullied by your slow speed? Or because you always soak up damage? With this DLC, you can teach those pesky fugitive people that they cannot dodge everything. Killing your team mates (and potentially yourself) has never been so easy.

Very nice. A very different game, and comes with free music that's worth more than the money you spend on this game. You can compete indirectly online (score system) with ridiculously good opponents. It's generally very fun - and gets better as more updates come along. Really quick to download because it's also a nice compact game.
