The new update for Scrap Mechanic has, for me, completely solved the progression pains of old Survival. There's quests, a really charmingly voice acted quest giver. Whole Destiny-styled raid zones!

Add to that the freedom of building your own Heavy Industrial equipment and you've got one of the most incredibly solid ways to lose an entire day.
