I believe that the game itself was just bugged, I've never used Linux before. After starting a totally new game the dagger appeared.

You did a few years ago, you played shadow of mordor, and you had a problem that the dagger did not appear in its sheath and you could not use it. Did you use linux at that time? Ubuntu other?

Have you tried now if it still happens to you?
I use manjaro linux and it happens to me, even with the beta 14.04 patch.
