Hi Folks,

I have been playing games on PCs for years, as I have been working in the IT Industry since 1976.
Yup, I am a sliver top, literally, but hey, I was grey at 35 :steamhappy::steamhappy::steamhappy:

I was drawn to steam a few years ago now, because I play FSX and it appeared that Dovetail were going to be updating it.
So far they have done a damn good job of it, many flaws have now gone and all of my old add ons are still able to be used on the steam edition, one way or another.

Well impressed with the way steam handles itself and I like the idea of no disks to lose, etc.

Of course I was sucked into other Simulation games and have enjoyed playing most of them, although not all the Sims on here are equal. Some are brilliant like FSX and my new Achilles heel KSP, for which I will never forgive Steam for the tempting offer and my subsequent purchase of KSP. I have just lost count of how many hours I have spent of KSP now and I feel terrible when I lose a Kerbal to "research in space".

Having said all that, there are some games on here that are just the exact opposite and shouldn't even be for sale on here, but different strokes for different folks I guess :-) You pay your money and you take your choice.
At least Steam gives you help to spot them before you buy them. Read comments and have a look at the overall ratings of a game before you buy.
The vast majority of games on here are good or very good, and Steam makes it easy to spot the problem ones, which is honest and good of Steam, which means you can 99.9% buy with confidence. You can even get a refund if you find out it's duff within a reasonable time of buying it.

I have also found some great Pen-pals on here which is always a plus for any forums or groups.
I also guess I am lucky in as much as I have ONLY RECENTLY come into contact with just one person on here who didn't like me criticising all the overpricing and bugs in his favourite game which he informs me he has spent over 4000 hours playing, despite all the bugs :steamhappy:.
Some folks call them Fanboys, but hey, he banned me, so I guess I won't be hearing his praise for a game full of bugs and errors with above average costings all the way through!

BUT , don't let that put you off, my experience on here is that the vast majority of people in discussions/chats/threads etc. are great and very helpful for when you come across questions and problems in games you play on here, which is a pleasant change from outside of Steam, and down to the excellent Mods I guess.

I like Steam and I also like the Workshop, an excellent idea and well worth a visit.

Personally, I would like to thank Steam for the whole idea and advantages of using Steam to play Games and Simulators on here as opposed to going out, buying disks with all the hassle that entails, damaged disks, lost keys etc. Good idea and well executed and maintained.

Take care of yourselves and loved ones.
Stay safe,

With best wishes to all,
T.
