Here I will tell me story of my almost 13 hours in game. I will also do a pros and cons so that you can the the TL;DR bs.
At first I had NO idea what to do. I jumped into this game and basically did nothing but run/fly around for 2 hours. Then I found out about the ship building and build a ship. On my first island I didn't meet anyone but on the island I went to this guy who couldn't even figure out how to build a ship decides to kill me after I offer help. D*** head. He stole my ship and I didn't know about the personal spawners at the time so I lost that! I then used a random spawn and went to a island with no one. I used sails and flew island to island for about 2 hours. I then find a island that has someone with engines. He helps me out by giving me ore and telling me about a few things. Then flys off. I recently died with about 3000 wood and 4000 ore and spawned NO WHERE NEAR MY ship. I meet this guy trying to pass the sandwall and BAM we become a crew and flew through. PIECE OF CAKE! Then that's my experience! I have only met about 7 people in game.... So... To see all these reviews about "pirates" and "trolls" is a bunch of BS because you don't find anyone and if you leave them alone they leave you alone.

Pros:
Seems to be a smaller player base in a MASSIVE world so if you are a loner like I am then this is perfect.
Customizable settings to help people with lower end PC's.
Lots of fun exploring and meeting the few players there are.
Very beautiful scenery.
Tons of fun making ships.

Cons:
For the pansies there is a con of pirates trying to kill you.
Seems to have TONS of server lag.
Really low end PC's wont be able to handle this. My PC is medium-high range and lags a bit here and there on low.
BUGS(to be expected
RANDOM DEATHS! Be warned that your character might decide to go limp and your rope will break killing you.
The character moves like a ragdoll!!!
Damage that makes no sense. I can die from tripping over a rock but if I hit a cliff going at the speed of light i take 10 points of damage.
