very tight run 'n gun and gallery shooter hybrid. controls are very tight, both the soundtrack and the visual style ooze with style. the only downside is that it doesn't have a numerical-based scoring system with an associated leaderboard to see how you stack up against your peers, but it doesn't really need it

Beat it on December 24th and I loved it. I said minimal bugs in my initial review, but the 2nd half of the game is much buggier than the first. Luckily, the developer has been releasing patches addressing a lot of the issues, but for my play through there were two that I came across that broke the side quests. A solid 8 or 9 out of 10 game, which can easily be a 10/10 once everything is ironed out.

game rips. incentivizes players to play for score but makes it fun for the masses. I've been primarily playing in chronological order sinking at least an hour into each game to figure out the nuances, and not only am I excited to see the next game in the collection, but also to go back to the ones I've played to master them.

an amazing package, and a scoring system too enticing to sit back and relax. hard to choose between aggressive play and survival because of the desire for scoring potential. the pixel art, sound effects/soundtrack, and bullet spreads/design pull it all together into something special.

I was already way too into it, but after the being john malkovich dance number I couldn't leave anything but a positive review. thank you for all the hard work

Hits that gaming itch like I expected.

Even though simplistic the combat formula/timing is difficult which was an immediate hook for me. The dialogue is goofy and intentionally bad reminiscent of Suda51 games, Hideki Kamiya's God Hand, and Swery65's Deadly Premonition. Much like the games aforementioned the whole package feels gamey/fun which is why I would recommend it.

The jank is definitely present. You will see enemies spinning in circles/facing walls and you'll find yourself aiming/shooting through walls, but the flow of the combat is a lot of fun once you unlock new abilities from the skill tree. My only major complaint is that the abilities you unlock are things you should have from the get go. For example: the ability to follow up with a pistol shot after a pistol parry feels like second nature, but the game restricts you from the follow up attack until you unlock it. Once you start unlocking abilities Wanted: Dead's combat flow becomes a lot more interesting and that along with the quirky story make for an enjoyable game.

All aspects of the game feel like something reminiscent of the seventh era of games (PS3/360) which isn't very common these days, and I'm here for the fun.
