Did not think about trying to generate the world first on the same seed and then overwriting with our save. That's a smart idea. I might just give that a try. I found a different temporary solution, not a dedicated one though. I purchased the game on another steam account, joined my co-op game to insert the new character into the save (new pc could not host if the character did not previously join/exist). Then I put all the files on a USB, transferred them over to another pc and just have that account running throughout the day as a co-op game as if it was a dedicated server. Overall, I think it works essentially the same as a dedicated, but requires me to leave that account logged in whenever someone wants to play, which was still cheaper than paying for a dedicated since the dev said I couldn't do it anyway haha.

Saw about 10 days ago you asked about transferring a co-op save to a dedicated server under a guide and the author said it wasn't possible, so gonna copy my comment here for you so you see it:

Just wanted to pop in and say that the authors statement that you cannot transfer a SP/co-op save to a dedicated server is not actually true, I was able to successfully do so by:

-Copying the co-op save folder from the local Empyrion install under saves/games onto a thumb drive
-editing the dedicated.yaml file for the dedicated server to use the name of this save game folder and also use the same seed number found in the dedicated.yaml from the local save
-starting the dedicated server once then closing it
-move the save folder from the thumb drive into the saves/games folder, combine and overwrite all
-start the server and everything should be maintained

I almost gave up seeing the comment that it wasn't possible, but decided to just give it a shot anyways and it did work.
