I couldn't graduate

Literally the best Metroidvania I've ever played, including Hollow Knight.

I can't recommend it enough. Although it can be punishing in terms of run-backs and traversal in general (at first), It's extremely polished and incredibly fun. Plus the 2nd game is on its way and looks great too.

I'm giving this game a positive, but I feel negatively towards it. I don't want to hurt the reviews because people love it. But personally, I don't enjoy the game.

Weirdly enough, this game feels extremely bad to play for a simplified souls-like. The weapons feels sluggish, the stamina is way too punishing. The gameplay pretty much consists of you attacking twice and waiting for your stamina to regen back while you're just staring into an enemy's eyes waiting another 5 seconds for it to finally attack, but it ends up attacking the same time you do so you force a hit on yourself and you're out of stamina so you can't dodge.

Also it probably has some of the most inconsistent i-frames I've ever experienced in a souls-like; I find myself saying "that didn't hit me" and "how did that not hit me?" a bunch. I've beaten all fromsoft games, wo long, wukong, wu chang, lies of p, Khazan, and any other soulslike you can probably think of, but this game just feels... off. It's somehow boring and annoying at the same time.

Every enemy I've encountered besides 1 or 2 in the first hour felt like they didn't even belong in the game. It didn't feel like they were there for a challenge, it felt like they were there to take advantage of the awkward controls and terrible stamina. There were multiple sections where I got ambushed by multiple trap-shooting dudes who stuck me in place and run-and-gunned me until I died while I waved a wet pool noodle at them just out of reach. That's not "challenge", it's a cheap troll.

I give huge props to the devs for trying this. It looks cute, I love the style, but it's way too awkward to play to be fun.

Games like this make me wish there was a "Maybe" react. It's fun and has a lot of potential, but as it stands, I don't think it's worth the asking price. I'll come back and probably change this review once it feels more like a full game. Me and my pals got a key to try the game early and we gave a lot of feedback on it. I was sure it was in its early stages, but when it got its full release, it felt identical to when we first tried it and none of our feedback was added. The premise of the game is clever and fun but:

- There are only 2 maps
- Movement feels clunky and can't be controlled mid-air
- The settings are very limited
- 3 game-modes but the gameplay is the same.
- The game's foundation relies on being "Chained together but with a weapon" but there's only 1 weapon type.
- No depth to the gameplay (no perks, no progression, no story)

Thanks again to the dev for letting us try the game. It was a lot of fun, but for a price of $12 (CAD) I can't really encourage people to purchase it in this state.The dev seems very passionate and he seems like a great dude, but the game just needs a lot of work before being worth it. Hard not to recommend a free game, even if it's as janky as this one. Give it a try. Doesn't hurt!

The people who leave a negative review are allergic to a good time.
