This is the best story rich game I have ever played in my life. Beyond that, the game play is fun and the sound/music is nothing less of amazing, and compliments the story so so well. Most modern games will usually have good game play or story, but rarely share both. Expedition 33 does this, and does it extremely well.

Speaking upon the story/writing in games, writers typically stay upon a road that is predictable and has a happy/good ending. While some may enjoy this, it becomes boring and repetitive when every other game copies that formula. Expedition 33 on the other hand decides to take risks and, in my opinion, makes the player feel so much more engaged in the story, and start to create a connection to the characters. In act 1, I was following the story but never felt deeply connected (compared to the end of the game) until going into act 2. This type of feeling is so awesome because it is something I personally never experienced before, and makes you want to keep learning more about the story and the world. While not getting into spoilers, I really appreciate the ending of the game (act 3), and not providing a "happy/good" ending. This left me thinking about the entire story for days, and I doubt I will stop for a while.

I am looking forward to whatever Sandfall Interactive releases next, whether that be a sequel, prequel, DLC, or something completely new; I will absolutely be trying it out. 2025 GOTY
