For anyone having issues with the resolution or FPS just open up the console and type the following commands:
r_mode -1
r_customwidth "1920"
r_customheight "1080"
r_primitives "2"
vid_restart

Feel free to change the width and height to whatever resolution you are using

"r_mode" defines the resolution.
You can have custom resolutions when r_mode is set to -1.
r_mode 0, 1, 2, etc. are 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 etc respectively..
Since the game by default doesn't have 1920x1080, you have to use r_mode -1 and then r_customwidth and r_customheight.

P.S. With "r_displayRefresh xx" you can set your custom refresh rate as well. If set to 0, it will use your monitor's default refresh rate (most probably 60).
