I don't recommend it in any way shape or form. But not because it's short. You shouldn't play it because it's not even remotely fair.

Let's recap shall we?
-Annoying enemies that are so horifically frustrating to fight that you're better off just sprinting past them. Again.
-"Hey you know how people really hate the Anor Londo Rafters? Let's do that but you're going down and this time the great arrows explode. Clearly the problem was that it's not unfair enough."
-The Gravetender bonus boss is legitimately something I would expect out of Dark Souls 2. It's a bunch of wolves, an NPC with a gimmick weapon and then at half health a giant wolf shows up who goes utterly ballistic.
-Friede somehow makes the Gravetenders look pleasant in comparison. Phase 1 is okay but then Phase 2 happens and you now have to deal with a giant rampaging manchild bird thing flailing around screaming while you get pelted with ice. In a series where one of the biggest problems is difficulty handling multiple enemies. Also Friede can heal both of them. It might have been a bit less dumb but when you try to hit her out of it Ariandel is busy throwing a tantrum and smacking you with his soup bowl.
-There's a three phase fight. Why is there a THREE PHASE FIGHT WHERE YOU DIE ONCE AND HAVE TO START AGAIN FROM THE BEGINNING.
Not even Dark Souls 2 did that to you unless you went out of your way to do it. And even then you still didn't suddenly unkill the first phase just because you died to the third. It also helps that the last and true last bosses are pushovers.
-Every time you die to Friede, she tells you to basically go away. Every. Single. Time. It's difficult to not imagine that she's a stand-in for the developers once it happens again for the 57th time.

I get that it should be challenging but there is such a thing as "going too far". This went way too far. This went so far that the line they crossed is in an entirely different continent.
Don't get this DLC. It's money better spent buying supplies to brew toilet wine. It at least leaves a better taste in your mouth than this pile of garbage

EDIT: Hi. For those of you who claim that I am actually terrible at the DLC and that's the only reason why I don't like it, please watch the following video of me beating Friede at SL1 on my third try: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aieVpeaicU Thanks for your understanding.

6. Losing your health when an enemy just LOOKS at you is a new feature. Being forced to level a stat just to have properly functioning rolls is a new feature. Just because it's a new feature doesn't make it good. Also the series has always stuck to things that are dumb. Like breaking pace to talk to some flat character who exists solely for "she's my virtual girlfriend" bait. Also a camera that is completely ill suited to fighting a boss like with Stray Demon and Dancer of the Boreal Valley. "It's how it always did it" is a terrible excuse.

Long story short: yes I mad. I very mad. I mad that everyone seems more willing to tell me my opinions don't matter for a DLC hardly anyone likes anyway. I mad that a thing I spent money on turned out to be a big pile of lazy disappointment.

4. Let's say that the whole "u suk at fitin multi enemies cuz ur build bad" thing is true. Why fuck me over because I didn't feel like using the most overpowered setup possible? Isn't one of the draws to this series the fairly wide variety with equipment setups? It's how I felt towards Burnt Ivory King where I felt like my preference for smaller and faster weapons dicked me over because I can't stunlock the stupid armada of knights who take potshots at me all the time and it wasn't fun then either.

5. I liked it not because it's 'just' challenging. Battletoads is 'challenging' but I wouldn't consider it good because it's a bait and switch zero margin for error obstacle course designed by a sadist. The series' core appeal to me was a more sensible approach to difficulty. I wouldn't consider this DLC good either because it feels rushed, lazy, and unnecessarily cruel.

1. It doesn't count time played for the DLC. Just the base game. if you had a functioning brain you would know this.

2. I even said in the review that there IS such a thing as "too much". Enemies that are nigh impossible to dodge and have 27 attack combos are too much. Lazy bosses that are just a bunch of enemies and an NPC with a wolf that shows up with a demanding attack pattern is too much. A three phase fight with no mid-fight checkpoints where phase 2 requires a space brain to handle is too much.

3. I have completed the DLC plenty of times. I can even handle it reasonably well. It doesn't change the fact that I don't LIKE it. And at this point, I don't think anything ever will.

--- its a challenging and very hard game .. it always was ... always will be.. thats why players love this game series ??

n a series where one of the biggest problems is difficulty handling multiple enemies.
--- thats not a problem of the series, its primary related to your character and playstyle and ofc ... who carefully you go through the game

There's a three phase fight. Why is there a THREE PHASE FIGHT WHERE YOU DIE ONCE AND HAVE TO START AGAIN FROM THE BEGINNING.
--- the rage is real, seems like u just wasnt able to handle the difficulty, feel treated unfair and destroyed 3 controllers ... xD found a lot of reviews where players has count this 3 lvl bossfight as a positive new feature .. maybe they were able to win it x) and btw every bossfight with more phases has to be restarted from the beginning^^ that never changes since the first game of the series
