First let me say that I was quite surprised to see how negative the reviews were, especially after seeing the overall sales and marketing success. However I read through a few and didn't feel as though I agreed with the level of dissatisfaction with many of the elements, as others. However I love the Tom Clancy universe and have a deep appreciation for the story, premise to execution to etc etc. It's a great base to start, and I think many started with trying to anticipate the game based on it's perceived genre rather than as the game it came to be.

For one it is not an MMORPGFP whatever other letters you feel like arbitrarily adding. There is a persistent world and there are MMO elements, that one can indulge in, but it must be understood that this is optional. Not integrated into the very core of the game. It's honestly more of an MMO with an RPG with an FP almost as separated as modules in Star Citizen with cleaner, no the cleanest transitions you've ever seen.

That consideration alone seems to be the point of much contention for those who said I want an MMO. And it seems to have annoyed FPS and RPG fans as well. As they expected more aspects of either side. To which preference will likely dictate how much love/hate you'll have from there. At least if your going in with GENRE expectations.

I didn't, I wanted the Tom Clancy story, and I know he's dead, so if you crudely drew it on a rock and displayed the story in a way I could still translate and understand, I'd rate it low possibly but watch the whole damn thing. definitely.

Now the game, of course, I had to digress and explain because I don't want to take away from negative reviews with very credible points despite the fact I personally would recommend this game to friggin aliens. I would say don't judge us badly look at this crowning achievement. Why?

Visuals: I was born in Manhattan, no I didn't just work there, which I did, and no I didn't just move there. I knew Manhattan, before it was the watered down version of itself you see today. And when I showed my best friend who hasn't gamed in years, and he is from Brooklyn, he had goosebumps. And that made me very happy. The commentary and off color remarks show a still life of late 90s Manhattan and it's spirit. Every detail on High not even Ultra, shows the designers care to have authenticity involved. And I would be remiss to withhold the fact that this was a huge bonus. I truly expected little in way of ambiance, and Ubisoft a company I have criticized and lambasted numerous times, properly shut me the F up and had my jaw on the floor. The dirt on the walls was as I remembered, the different accents and languages vying for your attention or detailing your next mission, made me nostalgic of my birth place.

Characters: The people you interact with are diverse and have their own motivations and spirit, beyond any other Tom Clancy title, and hold your stones, Splinter Cell and Rainbow fans no one is talking about the actual books, or the Vegas games. All 20 of you need to get over yourselves. This game is authentic in it's realistic character progression. People are jaded, they are evil, they are scummy, and best of all real in this game. Most people I see playing this don't care to even notice the surroundings or the suffering civilians as they are harassed and occasionally murdered by the different enemy factions. There is a lot of space for immersion if you are willing to slow down your leveling and take it in. People often just shoot out some windows, and say hey look that piece fell out, instead of noticing a woman running for her life as random assailants gun her down from behind. It adds a grit, that one would definitely expect, and it unsettles you in all the right ways if you take the time to notice.

Graphics: If you don't know how amazing the graphics are, you are too inept a person to google before making a 50+ dollar purchase. Thus I don't respect you enough as a person to sit you down and explain how friggin amazing this game looks. Take charge of your seemingly useless existence and check it out for your damn self.

Sound: Wow I am the guy who generally barely cares about sound. I mean really half the time voice overs and scripts in games are so ridiculous and over the top stereotypical that every thing I hear either annoys or gets ignored. Division well, the sound is so good. Pay attention, stop friggin running a sec and think your an agent in NY during a major crisis. Hear the dogs that are struggling to find food whimper at your presence and struggle to survive. Listen to the people as they fight over petty things like accessories to life necessities like food. When you listen to the collectable audios, wont spoil their form, you get such a varied array of stories.

Gameplay: Well now if you hate the Division, and your like what is this guy talking about. This game is so bad, blah blah blah. Well buddy here is where I say, I not only disagree but I love the Gameplay. I in general, am neutral about people, and not excited about needing pugs for anything. Division puts you in a world. On one end you get to solo walk around and experience missions, and like all multiplayer, you need a group to get to the peak stuff. However unlike MMOs you rarely see anyone unless you go to a social area or the DZ. I love this. I hate, I unequivocally hate that in MMOs I am trying to be immersed and I am doing all these missions, thinking look at me this heroic super dude, kicking ass all over, then wait. WTF? Everywhere I go other super people, just like me? Some better and more powerful? Immersion flaccid boom! In the Division by happy coincidence they fixed this. You roll alone or only with your party unless you go to a MMO area. You are the Hero among what feels like only a few others. It drives home your calculated worth and importance. How are you a hero among thousands? Not really right? Well how about it's you and a few handful of loosely organized people who often don't even have the time to roll in as a full unit. It feels desperate, it makes you feel as if your the one making the progress. Then there is the shooting, it's basic but honestly wtf are people expecting? I don't know how much innovation we are going to shoot for with cover combat and FPSs in general. What is the next big step in the most over done game genre that people are pissing on themselves to get? It's beyond me. It's got shooting and you shoot. If it were in a different time it'd be swords and same basic kill the guy tactics. Unless we are looking for a game beyond killing people to resolve the matters, there is no sense cramming all this crap into shooters. We need to think hey, whats after shooters, not hey this shooter plays like a shooter. That rant excused the shooting is shooter like enough for me. And if that's all you wanted, your why the reason we can't have new things. The enemies AI is, well simple but they have lots of armor and variance to make you give up your lunch money when you or your weapon is out leveled. This is an awesome aspect. Difficulty is varied, for once, finally. You can literally play to 30 with ease or play with Dark Soul level angst with Hard mode. Hell you can try Hard mode alone and get to see what it's like to be in hell. I love that at any point if I need to be challenged I can be, and if I want to be the badass one shot god of death and guns, I can be. Division doesn't say here is the difficulty curve, it says hey how hard you want, lube or vodka.

Do I have gripes with Gameplay, oh yea glitches, they aren't often or game breaking but they are there and they like with any game, take you out of the moment. Noted, but they do seem to update still and seem to regularly correct issues as they come and go. That said I don't want to speak on issues that have been fixed or mention one that by tomorrow is irrelevant. It's a huge game and one should be realistic. My main issue is the DLC platform and Season Pass setup.
