It's pretty much you know how to do it or you don't. For years, I couldn't learn how to do it correctly so I just decided to commit to ragdolls that can have built in animations as well sometimes. You take what you can get.

That sucks, maybe once i learn what to do with it i'll be able to use it for basic gmod animations
it's all i need because the animations i'm thinking of using already involve a weapons swep to do so. so if it's already proportioned into how a NPC would work, it should work just fine by itself then.

Would you mind if i use your ragdol model anyway to attempt to make it a playermodel?

But yeah, that's why there are far fewer Playermodel and NPC mods than there are ragdoll mods. It's overly complicated with little reward in the end.
