With most of the survival gaming genre focused on topics like, zombies, deep-space, and being lost in the ocean, The Long Dark brings a truly bone-chilling perspective to the survival genre. The way this game portrays real-life problems, such as hunger, thirst, and body temperature, can be scarier than any zombie. This game allows you to write your own story, as you survive the harshest climates, and the constant feeling that you're being hunted. You could make a fire outside, and try to take a nap, but when you wake up you're caught in a freezing hurricane. You scramble to make a fire, but you're out of wood! Sprinting through the blizzard, essentially blind, you try to find any sticks or wood you can, as your life slowly slips away. Then you collapse, a frozen, broken husk of the person you were, before your mind slipped away. Stories like these are what make this game so amazing, and the art style of the enviroment only makes it better. Because of these things, I would rate this game a 10/10. An judging from the other reveiws, many other people agree with me.
