I've been a great fan of America's Army 2 for a number of years - when AA3 came out, I was less than impressed - now Proving Grounds has, in my eyes, addressed some of the biggest issues from AA3.

More than anything though - modern FPS games have become far too tech focused and, as a result, have moved away from realism. This game IS far more tense and stressful than you expect, because it is still well within the realms of realistic.

You crouch behind cover that's barely big enough to offer adequate protection, with long lines of sight that a sniper could be staring down their scope at you through, trying to decide if it's the right moment to move - you pop your head around - just for a moment. Nothing happens.

You peek again - even faster - trying to spot a telltale sign of movement.

Nothing happens.

You look across at your team mate, a few feet away - and indicate them to go whilst you cover them.

They jump over and start running for the next bit of cover - you pull your weapon out and look over the top.

It all goes dark and then you find yourself watching the match from the sidelines.

The sniper wasn't in front of you after all - he's behind you.

Tense - you don't know the half of it.

Recommended - Hell Yeah!
