Fun game if you're into old-school topdown Zelda games. (e.g. NES / Gameboy era)

This includes an old-school feel in player combat, which has been a point of frustration with many players. It's not a problem with me, but early on, you will be kiting most enemies, as they take many hits to kill, especially if you're going to some areas out-of-order. In contrast with the somewhat tedious overworld combat, the boss combat in this game feels phenomenal. Never too easy and I never felt it was being unfair.

It has quality-of-life upgrades in some areas, such as, if you collect a large denomination of money when you're wallet is almost full, it will not cap the money you're about to receive. But missing other quality-of-life changes, such as an indicator on what caves / areas you've already explored and 100% cleared.

The game is language agnostic — there are no words, only pictures / images. A nice way to make this playable to anyone, but sometimes imagery can be a bit difficult to understand. Usually when you encounter other NPCs / items, a previous NPCs "imagery" will start to make more sense. But at points in the game, I received something and had no idea what it even did because there was no text to say what it does. I had to eventually deduce it, for better or worse.

The lack of indicators on what has been 100% cleared or not, and the lack of text-dialogue make this game a nightmare to attempt to 100%. There's nothing in game that will remotely attempt to help you. For example, I have 49 ore (out of 50, I assume) and have no way in knowing where it could be. If the game indicated what areas you've 100% cleared, you would not have to waste your time searching there over and over again. It doesn't help that it's full of old-school NES secrets where you just have to swing at random walls that don't always indicate whether they can be broken or not, for 100%.

The game progression is very satisfying, especially if you're just going through it casually. But a lot of the upgrades are locked behind purchases. I found myself farming for money at points to get a key purchase, but by the end of the game, I had way more money than I knew what to do with.

After the first two dungeons there is a sharp jump in difficulty. It can be frustrating if you have a lot of HP but lose a fight as you always only respawn with 5 HP and usually will have to farm for a bit to restore back to full HP to reattempt the fight.

Lastly, the world / characters are a bit boring. Pretty much everyone / everything is just another plain-old animal. This is kinda a side-effect of developing such a low-bit game. You don't have much room to create cutomized details, so you have to create things that everyone should easily recognize.

Overall, fun adventure game if you don't mind some of the old-school NES / Gameboy frustrations.
