I don't normally leave reviews, but as someone who has played Football Manager now for almost 20 years, this is a really poor iteration of the game, maybe the worst launch/beta I can remember. I'm aware its a new engine, its a difficult change etc. and the new ui takes learning and all the other things I've seen people say about this year's game.

However, at this point (now 90 hours or so), while I'm enjoying the matches and having fun with the new tactics (albeit not the tactics screen, that is awful), I can't recommend this game to anyone in its current state. I'm actively doing what I can to get out of the menus and into the game whereas I was traditionally someone who took my time between matches, tweaking tactics, looking for cheap transfers and wonderkids and so on.

Now I find I almost actively avoid it due to how clunky and frustrating it is to navigate any of this new UI. While some screens look nicer like some of the overviews, when you start diving deeper into them, stuff is either missing, laggy or broken and there's so many design decisions/choices that are baffling.

I know the bugs and problems will be fixed, but the design decisions and the countless features removed will not be or are very unlikely to change (maybe minor tweaks). The fact I'm actively waiting on and hoping for modders to effectively "fix" the game says it all.

Its a real shame, I really wanted to like this year's game and hoped it could be a triumph, but in its current state it just isn't. Maybe the future will change that, but having paid full price for it at this point, and as a consumer, this is simply not good enough and I imagine for most other players the pain and problems of navigating this year's game will put people off even trying, which is totally fair.

I'm just disappointed in it really. :(
