Early Access Review
I practically never leave reviews on anything because I'm lazy as hell and don't wanna spend the time putting into a bunch of words and organised sentences what I think of something unless I'm talking with someone and the subject is brought up.
But after very briefly learning of the recent news, and due to how much time I spent playing this game during a little bit over its first half-year after leaving closed tests or whatever it was (I played it every single day for hours and hours), I decided to add my (ultimately meaningless in the grand scheme of things) own review, mostly of what the game was back then.

I'm very much a PvE person. I don't like PvP because I have skill issues and a lack of patience for both tolerating my sometimes toxic teammates and trying to get better under such conditions, whereas in PvE I have all the time in the world and no one to ruin the mood by telling me how unoptimally I'm playing.

This was primarily a PvE-focused game, which I liked, and I didn't really mind the PvP aspect all that much either save for the people whining about shotguns - a close-range weapon - being effective at - *gasp* - close range, whereas every single other primary weapon kills you in less than 5 hits from ANY range.
The gameplay feels nice for a while but gets repetitive very, VERY quickly if you're a quick-learner. There was barely any content, just 3 missions and 2 shorter ones, and the biggest part of PvE : Expeditions. The missions were nice and Hecatomb was my favourite, I like city levels in PvE shooters, though at some point you just learn all of them because you do them OVER AND OVER AND OVER to level your weapons up so that you have more attachment choices for them (btw I will not elaborate on this subject), which I personally didn't mind because I'm a completionist and maxing out my weapons was the most fun for me.
I would elaborate on Expeditions but no one would really care by now, and I kinda forgot most details about both the old system and the "new" one I've known for a bit before stopping, though I'll at least say that I prefer the old system because the "new" one practically REQUIRED you to speedrun and use the unintended bhopping to get through vast zones of pure nothing because the zone contamination levels rise ridiculously fast in it compared to how fast you can go and do the objectives. tl;dr Nice idea but a mildly-flawed execution at first followed by a disastrous rework.
PvP was nice enough sometimes, especially if you have friends to play with, but most of the time you just get demolished from half-the-map away by sweats, cheaters (mostly Russians and Ukrainians, what a surprise (sarcasm)) and other toxic people repeatedly while they complain with the rage of a billion supernovas if you kill them ONCE with a shotgun.

I stopped playing this game mainly because of a severe burnout after months and months of nonstop playing and trying to do ALL the Season Pass missions and get EVERY weapon to max level to get every attachment and also farming Expeditions to get tickets or whatever it's called to unlock all weapon MODS and also trying not to pay much heed to toxic people complaining over and over about dumb stuff and... Yeah I was done. I used to be very active in the Shatterline Discord (though I am no content creator) and I got tired with dealing with some kinds of people. When I was too mentally tired to keep going I left it all behind; I left the Discord server, uninstalled the game and never looked back.

Sorry if this isn't a well-organised collection of my thoughts, but then again this is MY review so I'll do as I damn please even if I do try to make it clear enough.
I also wanna add that this is the game that made me realise how predatory [Season/Battle] Passes are and how much I hate them and the FOMO ("Fear Of Missing Out" for those who don't know) caused by it (and gacha systems, but that's not applicable to this game, or at least then it wasn't).

Apparently now there's some NFT stuff going on and the devs are going over to Epic instead. Back then I only had issues with the players and I never imagined that the devs would go THIS bad. I am VERY disappointed. This is terrible and they should not be able to continue and get away with this.
If you've read everything, then thank you for your time and patience, and sorry if I wasn't clear. It's my very first time writing such a long review for ANYTHING.

Man, the community has never been this toxic before, and now it's actively attacking both the very game they play and other fandoms.

Oh yeah, I'll do this, I guess, since people are SOOO fond of hashtags nowadays.

#KillTF2 #Don'tFixTF2

Just get real and move on from this game that lived far longer than any other of its kind ever will nowadays.
