Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is an amazing game. That is not something that I will attempt to dispute. The quality of the game itself is still high and that deserves praise. However, I disagree with the people rating this product for the quality of the game and not for the quality of this release.

This release is absolutely poor and not worth its asking price in any capacity. Upon purchase, you'll find that the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection releases have no options of any kind for PC players. No way to switch between windowed and full-screen (this feature will reportedly be added on a future update), no way to switch resolutions, no way to change audio settings, no way to change the size or aspect ratio of the screen, no way to change audio settings, no way to exit back to the menu while in-game, and so on. Even the most mediocre of remasters offer the bare minimum I have just listed here.

The excuse Konami has provided that the lack of quality of life for this release is due to their intent to preserve the original vision of director Hideo Kojima should not be trusted. Not just because they have chosen to port a release which itself has many differences from the original PS2 version of the game, from quality of life improvements to new bugs, but also because it is mainly an excuse to justify their decision to not make an attempt to natively port MGS2. It is my suspicion that Konami has used the Unity engine as a wrapper/launcher for a hidden emulator that emulates the code of the Xbox 360 release of the Metal Gear Solid 2 HD Collection version. This would certainly explain the lack of options for PC players, as it is baffling otherwise why even the most basic quality of life would be discarded in favor of such an out-dated presentation for 2023 standards.

If you already own MGS2, do not support this release. If you have not yet played MGS2, please do yourself the favor of researching alternate methods of playing the game which can offer better quality of life and superior presentation compared to this release. You may even be saving yourself some money.
