An ambitious FromSoft game taking the Souls formula of games and expanding it for an open world.

All the same controls you're familiar with from Dark Souls 3 is here alongside the game-changing jump button! Other features new and returning like horse riding and power stancing are all great additions too.

Despite the scale of the world, there are plenty of beautiful and unique areas for the player to explore, with an all-round great soundtrack. Not only is there some great boss music to listen to, but also atmospheric tunes to accompany the exploration of the open world.

The bosses can be quite hit or miss at times, with some of the best and worst bosses you'll face in a FromSoft Souls game. It can be fun to take them down nonetheless, but there are plenty of bosses that would be unfairly difficult or just a slog to get through.

Despite the open-world design and the fact I could get lost in it for hours with barely a sense of proper direction (NPCs can help to guide you however), a lot of familiar level design tropes harking back to even Dark Souls 1 and maybe Demon's Souls return here and make the individual setpieces a joy to explore.

Overall, Elden Ring is a great game, it can't be denied. From Software really put their all into this game and it's clear the effort that went into crafting this game. I wouldn't say that it's my favourite Souls game from them, nor is it such a highly ranked game for me since Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne are still some of the best in my opinion. However, if you are in the need of some more Souls games and you haven't played this game yet, it's still very much worth it.
