Solving the fates of a ship's entire crew is a daunting task, but it stays interesting all the way until the end. I actually hit a point where things started to feel overwhelming, but once I got into a groove and started to narrow things down, it got more entertaining as it went.

I think my biggest complaint is that I didn't like how it kicks you out of each memory after a certain amount of time whenever it's your first time finding it. Sometimes I would want to explore more, and other times I would be done, but I had to wait for the time to pass. I just didn't see the point in doing it that way.

So difficult at times that I had to walk away occasionally, but I always came back. Definitely a great game.

Short, intriguing horror game. Definitely worth a play through.

I had a good time exploring the game and piecing together the mystery. Basically you're going through people's things, reading diaries, and solving puzzles. If trying to solve a cold case sounds interesting, and you're looking for the type of game where you can sit back and drink a cup of coffee while you play, I would recommend The Painscreek Killings.

If the trailer piqued your interest, I would say check this game out. It really hits all the marks.

I love the ps1-era aesthetic, the oppressive atmosphere, the challenging (but not frustrating) combat, and I thought it was just the right length as to not overstay its welcome.

Go play it!

As annoying as it is to say "soulslike roguelite", that's what this is and it's very addicting.

Great combat, lots to collect and unlock, and a good challenge without being frustratingly hard.

If I could change one thing about it, I would increase the possible variations for the generated levels. It was definitely fun exploring each new level the first few times, but it becomes noticeable very quickly that rooms that aren't the correct path don't branch off. Rooms that lead to the exit will have a door in them, and rooms that don't lead to the exit never connect to another room. It makes it very easy to just run through a level if you really want to.

Very fun and addicting. You have to respect the devs for their support of this game, and for keeping it affordable - even with the licensed DLC.

Great, unsettling atmosphere. As long as you're in the mood to sit back and take it all in, this game delivers.

It is as it was. Nails the King's Field atmosphere while speeding up the combat and removing weapon durability.

Early on, I died and lost a decent chunk of progress. I'm so used to autosaves and quicksaves, that I forgot how devastating that could be if you're not careful, and I ended up stepping away from the game for a while. I decided to come back and give it another shot, and I'm so glad that I did.

Being cautious pays off a lot at the beginning, and it gets significantly more manageable as you level up and get used to how the game works. It might even get a little too easy for some, but there is a difficulty slider. That being said, I'm not quite at the end of the game yet, so I guess I'll find out if there are any difficulty spikes.

I ran into one issue while exploring with the torch. If you're moving along a wall, which might happen a lot if you're looking for hidden areas, the light from the torch disappears as it clips through the wall. This can cause a flashing effect as you're moving that is hard to look at. I would love to see that get fixed in an update.

EDIT: Finished the game and loved it. Once I hit a certain level, I feel like it never really returned to the feel of dread or need for cautiousness that you experience at the start, but at that point it just became fun to explore the world and find secret areas. I really enjoyed it.
