This game is incredible.

It's obvious, then, that I recommend it. But the why is important. For those of us born just too late to really experience platformers (alongside those of us that simply weren't exposed to them by older siblings), I always turned my nose up at them as simple games that were relics of the NES/SNES days when that was all the systems were capable of.

This game showed me how wrong I was.

It starts out, predictably, simple. You can jump, hit things to gain another jump mid-air, and that's that. And it is, for a bit. But this game has steady progression that feels so natural that when you go back to areas you struggled with several hours before you're shocked at how easily you breeze through them. The gameplay is rock solid, the controls responsive, and the icing on the cake is the story. It's not a new classic in literature, but good God is there heart in this game. I laughed, I teared up a bit, it was a grand old time the whole way through. I don't laugh easily in response to most media, but some belly laughs were had throughout the game.

It's a game that's obviously made for the love of the genre, and I cannot think of a better introduction to platformers inclusive of Hollow Knight (another game that I cannot say enough good things about).

Buy this game. It's worth every penny. If you regret it, send me a message on Steam and hold me accountable. I'm that confident you'll like it.
