A truly incredible metroidvania that perfectly captures what makes the greatest games of the genre so interesting, challenging, rewarding, and ultimately worthwhile to play. Bolstering an immense depth of varied locations, abilities, bosses, and secrets, not to mention fantastic level design, Hollow Knight's main goal is very apparent: To immerse the player in a world that rewards exploration to the fullest. This is something that every metroidvania strives for, yet so many miss the mark by either not incentivising the player to explore further due to a lack of meaningful content, or by bloating themselves with far too many unneccessary features and systems which serve only to muddy the experience. Hollow Knight has accomplished the difficult task of finding a perfect amount of everything a player could expect from a metroidvania, and has added its own unique hand-drawn charm to it. I'm struggling to find anything in this game that I could consider a con.

Pros:

- Immensely rewarding world to explore in any fashion you choose.
- Very chalenging by the late game, but not over-bearingly so.
- A staggering amount of content for the pricepoint (100% achievement completion has taken me just under 50 hours).
- Beautiful, hand-drawn artstyle with fluid animation.
- Great variety of environments, characters, and enemies.
- Very atmospheric soundtrack.
- Interesting (albeit sparse) writing.

Cons:
- It ends.

I really can't stress enough how amazing this game is. Absolutely 100% my game of the year, well worth full price.

10/10

Starbound has come a long way from what it was in open beta. Mechanics feel more fleshed out, the combat is more fun, and the building is (as it always was) fantastic. It still feels like it needs a bit something "more", but for the price and with plenty of mod support to give you "more" (whatever that is for you) of this fantastic game, starbound is absolutely worth buying.
