Umineko has some of the best characterization I've seen in fiction, with most of the cast feeling incredibly complex and real. Ryukishi07's background as a social worker definitely shines through in that aspect.

Furthermore, the storytelling is very intricate and the mysteries, along with the writing in general are insanely clever.
Rereading some scenes with the full picture in mind hits even harder than the first time.

The soundtrack and also the voice acting (use 07th-Mod) are absolutely amazing, enhancing the experience by a lot.

My main critique is that it is very verbose (expect 80+ hours at least) and some parts of the story felt like a slog to get through. It was worth every second in the end though.

It's so much more than what the synopsis leads you to believe and explores a variety of themes.

I went in expecting a standard murder mystery and came out with a life-changing experience. If I could forget everything and experience Umineko for the first time again, I would do it in a heartbeat.
