It is more scientifically accurate to say "I don't know, lets investigate" than to say "everything exists but we can only see this".
And now, I actually have no time to speak of the practical differences I referred to! But you can reply in the mean time if you wish, either here or in chat.
In reality, if there is a political spectrum, it is a line, and what it maps is liberty. On the left end is slavery--absolute control, zero liberty--and on the right is anarchy--zero control, maximum liberty. The key point is that neither extreme is desirable: No one wants to be a slave, and anarchy is flat out untenable.
All forms of government fall somewhere on this spectrum. E.g., fascism is very far toward the left end, and Americanism is far toward the right end. The very goal of the American revolutionaries was to create a small government that allowed the maximum liberty possible while still maintaining peace and order. I.e. the closest to anarchy one could reasonably get.
One may try to deny this, but the fact is that it is communists/fascists who literally walled their subjects in to keep them from escaping, and it is America to whom millions of people from all over the world flocked to from the very beginning, many risking and losing their lives to do so.
Nooooo...You are certainly creative, though! Of course all governments are not authoritarian. And I can't even begin to imagine what "phenomenological differences" would refer to in this context.
First, let me explain what the "political spectrum" actually is in essence, and then I will address the couple of the things you said which relate to the practical differences between right and left. Also: I get that your profile is just a sort of false-flag operation, but I still enjoy discussing subjects that I've studied and believe are important.
I'm sure you've heard the same nonsense I have: Communism on the left end! Fascism on the right! If we have a spectrum, we must define what it is that the spectrum maps. How do you map a spectrum between communism and fascism? You can't, because the two concepts aren't in opposition. In fact, they've done quite well together, no true Scotsman notwithstanding.
E.g. in the U.S., a person on the "right" supports the smallest possible government, and maximum personal freedom and responsibility--the opposite of fascism--and opposes the big government and federal concentration of power that the left has built up over the last century.
If you're talking about "Right-wing authoritarianism", it's an incredibly poorly-named concept invented a few decades ago by a psychologist, and does not refer to government.
(Yes, I know your profile is facetious, but still I'm not sure whether you understand that that's logically impossible...)
