I really enjoy Dead Island 2, but the FOV limit is kind of ridiculous — especially for a first-person game with a lot of movement and melee combat.

The max FOV being capped at 100 makes the game feel way too zoomed in. I know to some people that still seems like a “high” FOV, but after playing most modern games at 110–120 or higher, 100 just feels claustrophobic. My eyes can’t handle it — after just 25 or 30 minutes of playing, I start getting a migraine.

I get that pushing the FOV higher might mess with weapon animations or the HUD, but that should be my choice. Games like Skyrim and Call of Duty let you go higher and yeah, some things might look a little weird, but at least you can play comfortably.

I’m not trying to cheat or mod the game — I just want to be able to play it without getting sick. Right now the only way to go past 100 FOV is with Cheat Engine or memory editing, and I don’t want to mess with that. Not just for safety reasons, but also because it’s too easy to start changing other stuff and ruin the game for myself.

Honestly, they could’ve just unlocked the slider to go higher and added a simple warning like “may cause visual issues above 100” — done. But instead, it’s locked down tighter than it needs to be, even though it’s mostly a single-player or co-op game.

I really like the game, and I’d recommend it — but this one thing seriously holds it back for people who just want to play comfortably without messing with their system
