I get it: it's the same game. It really is. Old maps from MW2 (2009), only a handful of new guns, and very minor changes from last year's COD game... But, it's @%#!ing fun! The maps are well done and come with a a nice sense of nostalgia, they don't feel lazy or old. I like the new perk system, the ttk seems much better to me, and the new unlock mechanics give me a reason to play everyday and actually do daily challenges. Plus, the new zombies mode is awesome, too.

Disclaimer: I haven't tried the campaign; I've only played multiplayer and zombies. So, if you'd buy this game for the campaign, please check out different reviews. I hear it's short and boring.

This game is free and fun. Definitely worth the download.

It does have some silly technical limitations. Its capped at 60fps, doesn't support widescreen formats, and chops off the top and bottom of the screen in some resolutions. It's best played in windowed mode. It also doesn't support cross-play with the Xbox version. And, checking the developer's website, it seems they stopped supporting the game sometime in 2017, so don't expect any fixes or patches, ever.

But, hey, it's free and its fun. So, no complaints here.

If you like the Battlefield series, this game is well worth $28. For someone, like me, who's spent way more time than they'd like to admit in BF3 and BF4, this game is tons of fun. I've enjoyed BF1 and BFV, but it's nice to have a new, modern-day shooter to load up and jump in.

That said, if you enjoy more of the run-and-gun, fast-pace, twitch-style FPS games, like Call of Duty, I'm not sure you'll enjoy this as much. Like Battlefield, it's all about large maps, long matches, and slower, more strategic gameplay, which I love, but isn't for everyone. I've heard reviewers say this a hybrid of BF and COD, but that really isn't a fair representation. It's much more BF, and way less COD.

It's also definitely in the early release stage and not nearly as smooth and polished as a full release title. Character movement isn't great and needs improvement, but it's far from game-breaking. The audio isn't on par with AAA titles and can be downright laughable at times, but it's tolerable, for now. And, it did tax my system memory using about 8gb of RAM. But, all in all, it's better than I expected in a lot of ways. I heard about low framerates, and it did stutter at times, but averaged between 80-110fps at 3440x1440 on ultra with a 1080Ti and i9 7900x. They had serious issues with the servers for the first 72 hours after release, but I haven't had any problems since then connecting to and playing through matches, customizing my character, etc. Plus, the developers seem to be really involved with the community, open to suggestions, and committed to making this into a great game, as it progresses.

So, TL;DR - If you enjoy Battlefield, have a higher-end PC, and don't mind some early access roughness, this game is 100% worth $28. With time and optomization, I think it could be a really great game. And, even in early access, it's a lot of fun.
