Early Access Review
Game is interesting and unique, it's well polished to have nearly no bugs and run pretty smooth, the achievements might be grindy but overall I like the game

I am aware that this will be an unpopular opinion - I know this game is very well beloved by the fans. But I do not have nostalgic filter on this game - I only played this game recently and I think it has a lot of deep problems, that might be overlooked by many due to that sweet nostalgic lens - which I understand.

This game has very heavy, VERY heavy reliance on rubber banding, be it me overthinking at all times what the enemy ai is doing, but I see them transparently, this game specifically making it very easy to see what enemy ai will do, every move of your enemy is choreographed, the moment you overtake them, they slingshot to overtake you at an actually impossible speed, the moment they overshoot you, 15 seconds and they slow down dramatically to let you pass. They always slow down on the last lap.

I did some tests, I played with the slowest car of the class, with the fastest cars of the class, the behaviour of the race was the same, enemy's speeds are tied to mine, they make it look they are faster, then they let me overtake and take first place at the last lap (unless it's Sophia) All racing games are in a way an act, ai makes it look it's fighting with you, my issue is, in this game it's too transparent and on the nose.

I found out that it is easier to beat this game, take first places in cups if I play slow cars and make mistakes - enemies slow down, and ai starts scoring slower lap times, letting me take first place easily.

if I start to sweat, take the fastest car and make no mistakes, I paradoxically will be overtaken, ai will score the fastest lap and game will be a lot harder, I will have to navigate levels at very difficult speeds, while enemies will be somehow sped up to be like 300mph, and like on rails, taking the turns perfectly.

Now, the real big problem for me,
I have a problem with this game's main mechanic, damage. In that it actually is useless, it does not affect the race. In Flatout 1 Damage to your car directly impacted your, and your enemy's speed. In this game I time and time again see it does not decrease it at all, to a comical degree. I was enlightened to write this review because I always kill Sophia - you know why, but in this one race I could not finish her off, and left her with "1HP" and WITHOUT FRONT WHEELS. Her wheels came off and her car was one fire

SOPHIA. CLIMBED. TO. SECOND. PLACE. WITHOUT. FRONT. WHEELS.

Without front wheels and on fire, she flew past opponents, at speeds greater than mine (I was in the fastest car of the class). I rest my case. This is the derby game with no damage penalty, game where the main mechanic is worthless. I know I will be offending people who mainly come here to relive the good old days, for which I'm sorry, but be real with me, yes this is a great childhood memory, but it is a flawed game.

I liked the Flatout 1 more. Damage mattered, levels were less linear, they were more physics based, smaller, but more interesting.

A pretty nice game. I quite like it, but I can't get over the main character's name. This is such a well made, nice looking good game, but the character's name is an intentional sheitepost

This game broke the 100% completion with insane, unachievable achievements. Dev, this is way, way too far. Just some time ago you deleted 5mil achievement, I thought you had common sense

Also, making a poll on discord is not representative of opinions of your steam audience. You are essentially making a poll among top 1% that skew the perspective with biased opinions.

Yeah, yeah, silly achievement hunters, silly people having fun their own way. But Having a game with insane achievements that you will never complete is not fun for anybody, right?

Controls are confusing, game is buggy, updates are not being made, ever, no updates in three years. Yes the pixelart is cute but this is the only good thing about this game. I recommend you avoiding this game. Dev, if you are reading this, I intend no hate, I just really want you start updating the game, fixing what people complain about.

EVERYBODY hates sushi mini game.
And the boss battle is jank, buggy, frustrating, and in my multiple attempts at it - it bugs out soft locking me.
I also encounter a lot of animation bugs, when character walks without animation.

and the biggest issue of all - every single mini game uses completely different control scheme. Why? Just, why?

This game scratched the itch I had for a new clicker game good. It's not too long and insane as cookie clicker but it's not a one hour joke either. A well made and balanced clicker for an evening

You can't be serious, you named the most frail, cinnamon bun coded character in the game KAREN?
