Honestly really regret waiting for this one.

Note: I won't be reviewing the PC port itself but rather the game itself as an entity.

I'll start by this, is the game fun?

If you were to remove the "Ratchet and Clank" out of the gameplay then for the most part yes, it is, the combat is really good its what the series is known for and the graphics looks as the kids say "pixar" like.

However that's all I can say going for it, being as it is one of the most disappointing games I've played in a long, long time:

The biggest issue for me the game plays it way too safe for a Ratchet and Clank game, a trend that can even been seen going as far back as "Up Your Arsenal" (I give that game a pass due to the horrid development crunch they had to go through).

Another issue is Ratchet being a goody two shoes, the story has absolutely no substance catering to the lowest common denominator.

The other characters don't fair much better either, same issues with Ratchet. I want some actual flawed character arcs and development compared to this. And what's even considered development here (without going into spoilers) is just a mere footnote, meaning it takes about 10 seconds before conflict resolves.

The world building takes a big hit as well, we don't see much of what Emperor Nefarious does to the other planets, we don't learn much about "the resistance". Seems to me the inhabitants are doing fine

The rest of the characters are simply "le loud funni edgy" with little to no substance being smoothed into the ground.

You may wonder, why would I be mocking the story, because I feel good writing gives me a strong motivator to see what happens next. That's why, going from point A - B with no development isn't all that much fun. Look at something like Doom Eternal and you'll see what I mean. Textbook example of "show, don't tell".

I was initially hoping the game would return by to the branching pathways like in R&C 1/Into the Nexus etc. Or something that still maintained the "edgyness" but kept the combated akin to Deadlocked with a smaller roster of weapons that were more focused.

Also the fact that they even screwed up the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RYNO, I'm impressed they even messed that up. But hey, lets add a "le funny Easter egg" to it instead.

Personally I'd rather see the series dead and buried at this point then rather became the very thing it was laughing at. Remember when Insomniac buried Spyro because they ran out of ideas to evolve the series? That's what they should have done here

Good game, terrible Ratchet and Clank game.

I'd recommend you go back to the following as while they aren't perfect
R&C 1 (not the remake), Deadlocked, A Crack in Time, Into the Nexus.

Insomniac, you can do better then this.

If you're still itching to get this game, get it for no more then $10 as that's all its worth, even then I feel that's too much to justify.
