Thoughts from an inactive member
I can't say much for the current state of /v/; seeing as I left for greener pastures months ago. Even then, I haven't particularly active since I finished my Gensokyo no Nazo playthrough. However, seeing the announcement of the thread hiatus compells me to speak my mind. Not on 4chan, though. I heard the captcha got ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and management's even worse than when I left.

When I started posting playthroughs in Touhou threads, all I wanted was to see the discussion be more focused on video games and lore discussion. At the time Touhou threads were endless meme spam and image dumps; and were killed on sight by mods. I wasn't fond of that, so I tried my best to fix that. And for a time, things were good. People started netplaying and healthy discussion flourished.
Over time, the threads became more heavily focused on Soku until they were the main focus. That was fine and well at first, but eventually became the same tried repetition with too many image dumps and self-generated memes of its own. The community got too good at playing and newer players were put off by the skill differences. I stopped paying close attention after that; around April or May. And again I left 4chan in September. If my statement is a little outdated, then my apologies.

As for the Soku thread hiatus, as long as Touhou discussions can be had outside of it I can see this becoming a refreshing change of pace for you guys. I may not be a participating member anymore, but my desire for a good, strong community with intelligent discussion and quality content still remains. Hopefully the love will be rekindled in people's hearts. Just take it easy for now.

"I am a youkai who loves Gensokyo with all her heart!"

No matter how things fare in the future, I wish for the best for you guys.

Threads became to stagnated with shitposting and increasing numbers of people stopped playing. The hiatus is a chance to give everyone a break, and maybe some energy will be there when we come back.

Good words, strong words, respectable words. Such is what I miss from the older threads. It is (at least, for me) telling that I regularly feel like I get better talks with Klempfer then most of what talks happen in the threads these days.

There is too much conflict going on now. Before there was no drama about being a namefag or drawfag etc, and in fact it was a good sign like Sinoc or Repedee streaming, we were an actual unified group. Now it feels more like it developed into multiple groups stuck in the same room: some for lore, some for side talk, some for games, some for toxic posting, some for lurking, all with their own interests and goals for the thread.

I would imagine this to be like kicking all of those groups out of the room for a while. When the time comes that people are back in the room, perhaps there will be less division among the attendees.

Oh hey,
You're the guy who did playthroughs before I did.
I agree 100% though at the time I was purely lurking.
Now it just seems like everyone that tries to contribue gets shat on for meaningless reasons such as being a namefag while not actually doing anything for the benefit of the thread themselves.
