Nier's cutscenes don't actually store audio in the video files, which is why you're not getting any audio out of the Vidsquish profile either.
If you can send me a sample .usm from Yakuza 0 I can look into this.
Thanks for the reply. I never thought that the audio would be stored elsewhere, but that makes sense. I'm not too familiar with vidsquish, I only learned about it through the WSGF thread about Yakuza 0 when the game released, which I'll link here:
http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=32735&p=172603#p172603
I've uploaded one of the Yakuza usm files here:

So, I got a bit nervous when I peeked into the .usm and found ADX audio, which I can decode but not re-encode (the way some games store different channels in the format is very complex). Fortunately, a quick look at the file header revealed it to be HCA audio in disguise, which I can definitely work with.
In fact, I've already got a rough script together that can unpack, modify, and repack Yakuza 0 cutscenes successfully! :)
It'll require an update to Vidsquish since there's currently no library included for handling HCA audio, but that's an easy fix. I'd say you can safely expect to see a built-in profile for this soon!
21:9 aspect ratio
reduced resolution profile
letterbox/pillarbox
30fps
High quality compression
And it works like a charm! The opening video is pillarboxed and has complete audio.
I'll run another test with a high res profile, 60fps, and low quality compression later, but everything looks good so far. Thanks again!
