Custom Profiles

Since v1.0, Vidsquish now has support for custom external profiles. For special use-cases, download the profiles in this thread or post your own!

LEGACY PROFILES

Important Notice! These FFXIII profiles are incomplete and probably always will be. Without a mod for the games' filelists (which currently doesn't exist) only a handful of cutscenes will work at best.

Furthermore, original reports that the PC version of the games use Xbox 360 cutscenes are hearsay and false!

These cutscenes are nearly identical to PS3 cutscenes out of the box, support 5.1 surround sound, and are encoded with BINK v2. Only BINK v1 is available for noncommercial use, so the profiles below will always result in larger files at worse quality than the originals!

They are kept available here for educational purposes, as they do expose quite a lot about FFXIII's cutscene format.

Final Fantasy XIII (PC) (Vidsquish 1.x)

Description: Experimental profile for Final Fantasy XIII. Currently only works on a small percentage of cutscenes--the rest are lost in conversion due to multiple files being spliced together. While this would be possible to fix by splitting and joining the files, they are currently required to be located at the exact same byte offsets as the originals, limiting file size (and therefore quality). Until a mod makes it possible to change the game's list of byte offsets for each file, completing this profile is not practical.

Final Fantasy XIII (PS3 to PC) (Vidsquish 1.x)

Description: Same as above, except uses PS3 cutscenes as a source for higher-quality output. Since PS3 files are spliced differently than PC, video and audio are desynchronized on some cutscenes.

Final Fantasy XV (4K) (Vidsquish 1.x)

Description: A profile for Final Fantasy XV's high-res add-on pack which adds "4K" (1080p upscaled) cutscenes. Offers resolution options for retaining 4K or downscaling back to 1080p to save storage at the same image quality. Just like the base FFXV profile (included with Vidsquish) does not modify 4K cutscenes, this profile does not modify 1080p cutscenes, therefore different settings can be used for each.

Nier: Automata - High FPS support (Vidsquish 1.x)

Description: Adds support for 120 and 144 FPS playback for use with high-refresh displays.

Update: Formatting, and added a new custom profile for Area 51! This profile was created as part of a preservation project for the game, which is available legally for free thanks to the US Air Force (yes, really).
