At the end of the day, buying & playing computer games is pretty pointless, except for the fact that it's a lot of fun. So, you spend money on games, because you think that's fun, and somebody else spends money on trading cards, because they think that's fun.
You can buy them in the market place. The price is determined by the seller, but seeing as everyone is trying to undercut the others, you'll find sales at around 0,25 Euro
Well your wrong as you can get Torchlight 2 for free if you know how to trade. I got Borderlands 2 + Season Pass and Metro Last Light for free last week all from a few well time and practised trades with a little luck thrown in.
On top of this, Valve is taking little by little out of all those transactions. It's pretty crafty of them to pretty much generate money out of thin air.
