it is a market more or less if you want something you usually have to pay for it.
if two people want something you have a good chance of a 1:1 deal.
there are plenty of groups and what not geared to 1:1 trades.
As for the 'paying' for it idea, its trading cards, it really doesn't work that way unless the card has a higher rarity to it, so once again, it doesn't make much sense.
in real life some cards have more value than other too , maybe you care for one game more than another and are willing to overpay for it.
you are free to take your time and find 1:1 deals or wait for the booster packs.
I want that deal too.
