Can you just sit idle in a game to acrue Trading Cards?
Can I boot up Portal 2, leave it at the Main Menu, and come back in a few hours to get some Trading Cards?

I know it's a bit tacky, but I was wondering what determines your card drops while a game is running.

Yep! All you do is keep it open. :D. It might even take less than a couple hours to finish getting all your drops.

Cards haven't been dropping for me at all. I am really sad, it was my only source of income for games :(

Maybe it's a glitch with the trading cards becoming public? I've had Binding of Isaac open for the past hour and it's been dropping :\
