You rebel! ;)
I actually agree, well, at least I don't mind either way. I'm certainly more likely to buy a $5-10 indie game to get the cards (and explore the game) than to spend $60 on something like CoD, which doesn't interest me one bit at that price point.
But none of this is mutually exclusive, and both "types" of games will get plenty of cards, no doubt.
I stop to reading the thread here..
But...
- Try not to say "we" don't know that games, because there's a lot of people who cares and are actually really enjoying more indie than aaa titles.
- I really doubt that EA, Activision or whatever will contact Steam to make that cards.
- Most titles on trading cards are not "bad selling" like you're asking.
- Indies had becoming bigger, because people want innovative gameplay and experiences, just to have some fun instead of doing basically the same things on every game that costs 50 dollars. Just try to deal with it.
But, yeah, it will be good to have more variety, including aaa titles, but don't blame Valve for that. Some aaa titles, doesn't matter how much they cost, will be fast at top selling list if they add cards too, so following that kind of thinking, you really think Valve will add 5 dollars games instead of 50? Flawless logic.
And personally, there's no trading card thing that will lead me to buy some EA or Activision game. Maybe, just maybe from Ubisoft.
You're totally right. It'd be better for the Community if the Badges that are added concerned the most popular and most played games and not games whose names' are almost unknown to most of us.
Keep in mind this is still in beta. I don't know about the release plans, but one might think about the steam summer sale and with it a faster rate of unlocks (of the games that use the trading cards) might occur.
It's up to the developers of each individual game, obviously it's up to valve if they get added but only after the developers of the game get involved themselves.
Telling Valve to add games wont do much, if you want these games added talk to the developers of those games you want added, it's the only way.
You play them or even know something about that ♥♥♥♥ titles?
You're too mainstream, Trine 2 is one of the most famous indie titles, so seems to be good. But Monaco, FTL, Sanctum and BIIT.TRIP sales before trading cards speak to themselves, if sales is a synonym of quality to you. :P
Of course if you've got a small $10 indie game that might increase sales as the costs associated with it isn't that high. But yeah, it's not economically viable for high priced games to enter a system which there won't be increased profit.
sounds like your giving some good feedback, post it here.
