Enable users to display lower level badges

I noticed that Cubemen 2's level 4 badge is green, and its level 5 badge is purple, which is crazy, because we all know green is better than purple. :) It'd be nice to have the option to get the level 5 badge for XP, but to be able to use the level 4 badge on my profile.

Some low-level badges very differs from high-levels. It's really strange that you lose the opportunity to use the badge after you upgraded it. Isn't upgrading should offer benefits, but not "restrictions"?

I actually think it's neat and simple that each game only has one badge. Except that there are also foil badges. It would be even better if you couldn't craft a foil badge until you leveled your basic badge to level 5, then the foil badge would be an upgrade, replacing your basic badge with the foil version, which would then be the level 6. But yeah, I understand where you're coming from, I just like simplicity. And also, the amount of badges is kept in check with this upgrade system, instead of 30 level 5 badges, you'd have 150 badges in your list, what would be horrible.

There's no need to keep them all in one list, the way they displayed now is fine. And I'm not talking about displaying all of them on "Badges" page, but about selecting one of crafted badges for your profile page.
When appearence of most badges really became more "valuable" when upgraded, some of them just looks kind of equal to each other. For example Magicka, The Binding of Isaac, Offspring Fling, They Bleed Pixels, maybe few more.

Please do this. There's been a few times now where I didn't want to level a badge just because the current one looked better than the max level. We have earned them so I see no reason why we shouldn't be able to do this.

Who wants to display a level 5 "Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot" when the level 1 "Clown Prince of Crime" is a billion times better? (Who made the decision to make it that way round anyway?)
Not asking for separate badges necessarily, just include a drop down on the badge selection and select the level! Easy, surely.

i so much want to show "Dusty Veteran" level 3 csgo badge to show on my profile instead of level 5. But I cant do this. This should be changed. There are so many other games I dont want to craft badges because while gaining xp, I loose the badge I want to be displayed. I regret leveling up the csgo badge now and there is nothing I can do about it.

I agree 100%, and also want to sign this. I just started with the badges, but after forging the Level 2 for Skyrim badge, I found out that I lost the Level 1 "Iron" badge forever. I wanted to reach Level 5 "Daedric", but keep using the Level 2 "Steel" because is the badge I most prefer of them all.

I thought that you "created" a new badge of higher level while keeping the previous ones, not replacing them forever with the new badge... I'm very disappointed with this terrible idea

I would also very much like to see this. I haven't leveled up a couple of badges because I would lose access to a lower level one that I prefer the look of.

It's less about keeping them in the badge list for yourself (the way it is now is perfectly fine for that), but rather about displaying the lower levels on your profile, because you like the way the lower level(s) look, or you want to display all 5 of them.

I'm sure mods see it but they have nothing to do with changing/updating steam strading cards.

Anyway this topic is old but still very relavent. I really wish they would give us this option, not only for the main badge display but for the badge showcase as well.

I would really, really love to have this. Currently for one game I want a level 2 badge as well as the level 5 one...it would be so nice to be able to switch between them!

+1 However another alternative would simply be to allow separate badges to be crafted in addition to existing badges (ie: so one could be a different level than the other).
