No free Sale cards this time (only for crafting badges and spending money) - what do you think about this change?

Craft a game badge
Starting one week prior to the start of the sale, crafting a game badge earns you a mystery card. During the sale, each game badge you craft will get you an additional Steam Sale Trading Card.

Make a purchase
As an extra reward for purchasing, for every $10 USD spent during the sale you’ll receive a Steam Sale Trading Card. From your sale badge page select “How do I get more cards?” to track your purchasing progress.

Trade for them
That’s why they’re called trading cards! Find friends with other cards and make trades. Your Steam Sale badge page shows which friends have the cards you need.

Buy them from the Community Market
Sell the cards you don’t need and buy the ones you do, all with other Community members on the Community Marketplace. Turn those duplicate cards into Steam Wallet funds to buy games.

If it's true, I'd be damned. I'm still hoping they'll give out free cards each day. If not, the only "free" way to craft the seasonal badge for the sale is via purchasing the steam points one

Sale cards for crafting badges drop only 1 week before Winter/Summer Sale and during it.

Probably the exact opposite. They want people to craft as many badges of it as possible, but they probably don't want to give people who just make 100 accounts to then trade all the cards of each account to their mainaccount the option to be able to get hundreds of cards for free.

But it's not free. For getting "free" drops you have to spend 5$ on each account.

True, but with the amount of bots and alt accounts going on, that amounts to a load of cards given out to accounts that aren't actual users. I mean, I too would like the free cards, but its not like I can't craft the badge without it.
