Trading cards in games I got for free
Hi all,
Recently I added 2 games that supposed to have trading cards to my library for free: Rusty Lake Hotel and Company of Heroes 2. These were free giveaways by steam so they are not free to play which I know work differently. So these games show that I don't have any cards left to collect even though they never dropped one and they don't show up as being eligible for booster pack drops. Is this intentionally this way and if so, when did they change this? I remember in the past I could get trading cards just fine on games that were giveaways.

Free games given away on Steam no longer have card drops as of May 2019.

I see. Well that sucks. Does this also mean that games I receive this way will never be eligible for booster packs?

That's my understanding, but I can't recall seeing that "in writing" anywhere official.

You'll have to buy them to be eligible for cards and booster packs drops. You can delete the free licence and buy the game, but why would anyone do that?

In the game's store page (when it's free) just near the price where the they state the promotion there's a question mark that show that info when hover on it

Free to keep when you get it before 31 May @ 12:00pm. Some limitations apply. (?)
