How Can I See the Gem Value of an Offered Card?

So I just learned -- to my great loss -- that not all cards or backgrounds are worth the same number of gems.

How can I see the gem value of a card (or other item) that someone is offering to trade?

I couldn't find such a function at all. :(

usually backgrounds are 10 gems as are cards. its not worth turning cards into gems. Most backgrounds you can get for 3 cents are going to be 10 gems but not always. if you want to turn backgrounds into gems you are going to probably best bet is to pay 3 cents for a background always. There is no way to see gem value unless in some wiki database outside of steam for example.

Thanks for the response.

It seems like Steam may be abrogating their legal Duty of Care by failing to show the value of items from the rather critical trading interface.

I say that because, hiding the value of a thing at the critical point of trading is quite foreseeably going to encourage scamming. And fixing this would be extremely easy!

mhm. Have been researching this as well myself, just now. The wiki isn't even remotely up to date, to make matters worse.
