The Woodland Beta
Venture deep among the trees, traveller, and discover your Destiny in the heart of the Woodland!

That's right! The long awaited final corner piece to complete the board has finally arrived in T:DE!

Please familiarise yourself with the extensive rules governing the Woodland expansion
( The Woodland Rules )[images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com].

As with previous betas, achievements, tutorials and translations are still incomplete but will arrive before too long.

Changes

We've already made several new house rules specifically for the Woodland as well as a few others.

There will be more to come but there are already a few other features that have crept in from the feedback we received from when we asked users to 'Have your Say' a while back:
  • Random Expansions and Rules buttons in offline game setup
  • Hidden Character selection in online games
  • 'Timing Windows' modifiable through houserules
  • Additional Options * (not all of them fully operational)
  • More detailed Player information * (work in progress)

We have made one intentional change to the card Riddle Stone[www.talismanwiki.com].
Where it previously read :
You may roll dice equal to your Craft value. For any doubles you get, draw 1 Spell andd then discard down to your Spell limit.
The Riddle Stone then crumbles away to the discard pile.
If you get no doubles, then discard all of your Spells and the Riddle Stone stays on this space.

Riddle Stone now reads :
Roll 1 die. If the result is equal to or greater than your Craft value, discard all of your Spells and the Riddle Stone stays on this space.
If it is lower, gain an amount of Spells equal to the difference, then discard down to your Spell limit.
The Riddle Stone then crumbles away to the discard pile.

The change was made because it was supposed to be more or less an arbitrary check that has a higher potential to reward characters with higher craft. It didn't however take into account the existence of the Celestial (because it didn't yet exist) who can potentially have an infinite craft value.

Mostly we just hope you have fun with it, let us know what surprises you find in the Woodland and just be warned that you'd better go in disguise!

An apparent Spreading Flames Alternative Ending bug; the game placed a Fireland Token on my character's space even though it was actually missing a Turn at the time.

The Ending being used was the Spreading Flames Alternative Ending and my character landed on a space, in its Turn in Round 113, that had the Cave Card on it and a Fireland Token on it. My character then encountered the Cave and rolled a 3 and as a result it had to Miss a Turn. After my character had encountered the Cave its Turn ended and it then lost a Life due to the presence of the Fireland Token.

The problem was that although my character then missed its Turn in Round 114 the game still placed a Fireland Token on its space as if it had begun a Turn in that Round.

This post is about the same game as in my previous post above. This game was therefore started before the recent update.

Here is a screenshot of the Log for Round 113 that shows that my character lost a Life due to the presence of a single Fireland Token on the space after it had landed on the space; the loss of the Life is listed as the last entry in my character's Turn.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1418361610

Here is a screenshot that shows that my character missed its Turn in Round 114.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1418361677

Here is a screenshot of the board, taken at the beginning of my character's Turn in Round 115. This screenshot was taken just after the game had placed a Fireland Token on the space because of the Ending being used, after my character had automatically gained a Fate point, and after the Dragon Token draw had been resolved.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1418361416

As the above screenshot shows after the game had placed a Fireland Token on my character's space the total number of Fireland Tokens on my character's space equalled three.

Yet, as the first screenshot above shows, when my character landed on the space in Round 113 there had only been one Fireland Token on the space because my character had only lost one Life at the end of its Turn in Round 113.

Thus the game must have placed a Fireland on my character's space at the beginning of its missed Turn in Round 114 because after the game placed a Fireland Token on my character's space at the begining of its Turn in Round 115 the space had three Fireland Tokens on it.

Here are some additional screenshots that might be useful.

Here is a screenshot of the Inventories of all the characters in the game. This screenshot was taken just after the game had placed a Fireland Token on the space because of the Ending being used, after my character had automatically gained a Fate point, and after the Dragon Token draw had been resolved.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1418361539

Note that my character had the Destiny Card entitled The Vagabond and the Conjuror had two Destiny Cards entitled The Noble and The Dreaded.

And here is a screenshot of the Log for my character's Turn for Round 115, taken at the beginning of my character's Turn just after the previous screenshot above.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1418361766

The text on the Spreading Flames Alternative Endings Card says in part: "At the start of each character's turn, they must place 1 fireland token on their space."

This means that a character must have a Turn for the game to then place a Fireland Token on that character's space at the start of its Turn.

However in Round 114 my character did not have a Turn in my example above. Thus a Fireland Token should not have been placed on my character's space at the start of its missed Turn in Round 114.

A Wander Lust Alternative Ending + Wyrd Path Path Card bug.

The Ending being used was the Wanderlust Aternative Ending. An AI Leprechaun moved to the Eyrie Space, it was then defeated by the Eagle King, and it then emerged at the Crags Space. A few Turns later, on a whim, I looked at the Leprechaun's Inventory and as a result I noticed that although it's Path Card entitled Wyrd Path had become a face-down completed Path Card, and therefore no longer active, the Destiny Card that had originally belonged to the Wyrd Path, entitled The Vagabond, was still active in the Leprechaun's Inventory and thus the Leprechaun was still able to use it.

I used all expansions in this game except for the following: Dragon; Firelands; Nether Realm, and; Harbinger.

Here is a screenshot of the Log that shows that in Round 65 the Leprechaun emerged at the Crags Space after it had been defeated by the Eagle King.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419413977

Here is a screenshot of the Log that shows that in Round 68 the Leprechaun had landed on and had encountered the City Space.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419441903

Here is a screenshot of the Log that shows that in Round 69 the Leprechaun had then moved into the City Region where it had then acquired a new Path Card entitled Ill Fated Path (not shown in the Log).

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419458977

Here is a screenshot of the Inventories of all the characters in the game, taken at the beginning of my character's Turn, that shows that the Leprechaun had completed its Path Card entitled Wyrd Path.

Note that the Leprechaun's active Path Card was the Path Card entitled the Ill Fated, and The Vampire Hunter had the Path Card entitled Path of Respite, and my character had the Path Card entitled Warrior's Path.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419414148

Here is another screenshot of the Inventories of all the characters in the game, taken at the beginning of my character's Turn, that shows that the Leprechaun had the Destiny Card entitled the Vagabond, that this Destiny Card was active at the time, and that this Destiny Card belonged to the Wyrd Path Path Card which had been completed and turned face-down.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419414232

And here is a screenshot of the board that was taken at the beginning of my character's Turn.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419414303

Once the Leprechaun had completed its Path Card entitled Wyrd Path, in my example above, then that Path Card had ceased to be active. Thus the Destiny Card that had belonged to that Path Card should also have become inactive and thus it should have been discarded.

An apparent Lugh's Cloak bug.

My character, the Courtesan, landed on a space in the Woodland Region and it then drew and encountered the Lugh's Cloak Card. However my character was not allowed to gain the Lugh's Cloak Card even though the Lugh's Cloak Card required that a character must have at least 5 Craft and my character had 5 Craft at the time, and it also had the carrying capacity to take Lugh's Cloak as well.

This post is about the same game as in my previous post above.

Here is a screenshot of the board, taken at the beginning of my character's Turn.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419482915

Here is a screenshot of the Inventories of all the characters in the game, taken just after the previous screenshot above.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419483015

Note that the Vampire Hunter had the Path of Respite Path Card, and the Leprechaun had the Ill Fated Path as its active Path Card. Note also that the Leprechaun had two face-down Path Cards entitled Wyrd Path and Path of Unseelie. Note also that the Leprechaun had the Destiny Card entitled The Vagabond that belonged to the face-down Path Card entitled Wyrd Path.

After the above two screenshots had been taken my character then rolled a 2 to move and it then moved 2 spaces anti-clockwise and landed on a Glade Space and it then drew a card.

Here is a screenshot of the card that was drawn: Lugh's Cloak.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419483123

Here is a screenshot of the moment when my character was about to Encounter Lugh's Cloak. Notice that my character had 5 Craft at this time which was the minimum Craft requitement to take and keep Lugh's Cloak according to the text on the Lugh's Cloak Card.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419483216

Here is a screenshot of the game, taken at the end of my character's Turn that shows that Lugh's Cloak was ditched on my character's space.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419483301

And here is a screenshot of the Log.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1419483429

The Log shows that my character did not take and then ditch Lugh's Cloak. Instead when my character encountered Lugh's Cloak my character was not allowed to take it and it was thus immediately ditched on my character's space by the game.

The text on the Lugh's Cloak Card says in part: "No character with less than 5 Craft may have Lugh's Cloak."

In my example above my character had 5 Craft at the time that it encountered the Lugh's Cloak Card. My character also had enough carrying capacity to take and keep Lugh's Cloak. Thus my character should have been allowed to take and keep Lugh's Cloak.

Titania's gate vs. Oberon's gate, When both cards are drawn together strange things happen in the next turn. When i was lightbound and drew first Titania's and the second one Oberon's gate, first I was moved to another place by another player and after that i could move according to Titania's card - is it well implemented?

My character, the Courtesan, had the Destiny Card entitled The Wealthy but it did not gain a Light Fate when an AI Martyr gained 6 Gold.

My character, the Courtesan, possessed the Destiny Card entitled The Wealthy when an AI Martyr used a Treasure Map to roll one die to gain 6 Gold. As a result my character should have then gained a Light Fate according to the text on the The Wealthy Destiny Card but instead my character did not gain anything.

This post is about the same game as in my previous post above.

All the following screenshots were taken just after the Martyr's Turn had ended.

Here is a screenshot of the board.

Here is a screenshot of the Inventories of all the characters in the game.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421733647

Since my character had a lot of things in its Inventory I shall now list my character's Objects and Followers as these things are difficult to detrmine in my above screenshot.

Objects: Talisman; Bag of Carrying; Concealed Pouch; Scales of Balance; Horns of Power; two Lucky Charms; Witch's Broom; Astrolabe; Horn of Summoning; Mab's Charm; Nuadu's Torc; Lugh's Cloak; Stone of Lia Fal; Crooked Scales; Orb of Destiny; Treasure Map (roll 1 die to gain the result in Gold); Potion of Strength (Trinket); Armour; Whetstone; Personal Journal; Invisibilty Potion; Potion of Strength (non-Trinket); Ghost Wand; Lucky Coin; Unstable Potion (Trinket); Water Bottle; Tricks and Treats; Elixir of Wisdom; Wanted Poster (Spirit); Wanted Poster (Animals); Broken Armour; Lightning Hammer; Frostbite, and; Runesword.

The Concealed Pouch contained the Frostbite.

The Bag of Carrying contained the Horn of Summoning, the Water Bottle, the Armour, and the Lightning Hammer.

Followers: Scribe; Unicorn; Whiskers; two Horses and Carts; nine Mules; two Riding Horses; Fortune Teller; Clansman; Sellsword; Guardian Angel; Leanan; Magpie; Theurgist of Light; Prince; Piskie Companion; Trailblazer; Black Unicorn, and; Fang.

My character's Inventory also contained 10 Strength Cones and 8 Craft Cones.

Here are two screenshots that show my character's five Destiny Cards. The second screenshot shows that my character had the Destiny Card entitled The Wealthy.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421843728

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421843807

The text on the Destiny Card entitled The Wealthy says in part: "When a character gains 1 or more Gold, you may gain 1 Light Fate."

Thus when the Martyr used its Treasure Map to gain 6 Gold, in my example above, then my character should have gained one Light Fate but this didn't happen; instead my character gained nothing.

It appears that the instructions on the Piskie Companion Card are not being correctly implemented.

This is about the same game as in my previous post above.

My character, the Darkbound Courtesan, encountered the Dice with Death Space and it rolled a 5+1. I then used one of my character's Light Fate point to reroll the 1 result and I rolled a 6. When I then looked at the right hand side of the screen I noticed that a button had appeared entitled "Add One to Dice". My character had the Piskie Companion at the time.

I therefore decided to click on this button entitled "Add One to Dice" and my result of 5+6 gained a +1 modifier.

My concern is that my character should not have gained a +1 modifier if that +1 modifier was due to the presence of the Piskie Companion in my character's Inventory.

Here is a screenshot of the board, taken at the beginning of my character's Turn.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421951713

Here is a screenshot that shows that my character had the Piskie Companion.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421977704

Note that the Toad (Leprechaun) had the Path Card entitled Path of Wisdom.

For a list of all of my character's Objects, Followers and Destiny Cards see my previous post above. My character also had 10 Strength points and 8 Craft points in its Inventory at the time.

After the above screenshots had been taken my character moved to the Dice with Death Space and it then encountered the space. As a result my character had to roll two dice and total them.

Here is a screenshot of my character's initial roll that shows that my character rolled a 5+1 result. After this screenshot had been taken I then chose for my character to reroll the die with the 1 result on it.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421951863

Here is a screenshot that was taken after I had rerolled the 1 result and the reroll was a 6. This screenshot shows the game as it asks me whether I want my character to lose a Light Fate or lose a Fate from my character's Luck of the Dead Warlock's Quest Reward Card. I chose for my character to lose a Light Fate.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421951957

Here is a screenshot that shows my character's modified Dice with Death score of 5+6. Notice that the screen shows that my character could modify its dice roll with a +1.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421952049

Here is a screenshot of that shows that I accepted the +1 modifier.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421952191

After the above screenshot had been taken I then rolled for Death and I rolled a 6+2.

And here is a screenshot of the Log.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1421977783

The text on the Piskie Companion Card says:

"Lightbound Effect : When you spend light fate to reroll a die, you may add 1 to the final result.

Darkbound Effect : When another character spends dark fate to reroll one of your dice, you may add 1 to the final result."

Thus the Piskie Companion cannot, and should not, give a Darkbound character a +1 die roll modifier if that character rerolls one of its own die rolls.

Nor should the Piskie Companion give a Darkbound character a +1 modifier as if it were a Lightbound character either.

In my example above, my Darkbound character, the Courtesan, rerolled one of its own die rolls and as a result it gained the option to add +1 to its rerolled result. If the Piskie Companion was the cause of this option to add +1 then this was an error because the Piskie Companion can only give a Darkbound character a +1 modifier to a die reroll if that die reroll was caused by another character.

Questionable AI behaviour.

A suggestion: when a character turns a Path Card face-down in a game that is using the Wanderlust Alternative Ending after it has been to one of the end spaces on an expansion board, or it has been to the Town Square Space on the City board, can the face-down Path Card have some text attached to it that says, when it is moused over, what expansion board that face-down Path Card was turned face-down on ?

This would be helpful when a player cannot remember which expansion boards a character has completed and which expansion boards a character has not completed.

The text that would be attached to a face-down Path Card would then be revealed by a mouse over the face-down Path Card which would reveal the information inside a text box in a similar way to the way that information is revealed inside a text box when a player mouses over a space with one or more cards, Gold or Tokens in it.

A Faerie Trod Event Card forced my character's two face-down Path Cards to be discarded.

Note also that the Martial Artist had the Mage's Path Path Card, and the Dragon Priestess had a face-down Path of Glory Path Card.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1423792626

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1423736540

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1423792715

The text on the Faerie Trod Event Card says in part: "Discard your current Path, if able, and take a new Path from the top of the Path deck. Then discard this card."

The key phrase in the above cited text is "current path". Thus the Faerie Trod Card only affects a character's current Path Card. Face-down Path Cards are not a character's current Path Card. Thus the Faerie Trod Event Card should not affect a character's face-down Path Cards.

Therefore, in my example above, when my character drew and then encountered the Faerie Trod Event Card it should not have been forced to discard its face-down Path Cards.

It appears that the instructions on the Rising Dead Omen Card are being incorrectly implemented.

An AI Dragon Priestess moved to the City Space and it then encountered a Grilipus Dragon Scale on the space. As a result it drew the Mystic Dragon Follower Card. The Dead Rise Omen was active at the time and as a result the Dragon Priestess then drew another card as well: a Treasure Map Card.

The problem was that the Rising Dead Omen Card active effect that relates to drawing an extra card only applies when a character initially draws one or more Adventure Cards and the Mystic Dragon Card is not an Adventure Card.

This post is about the same game as in my previous post above.

Here is a screenshot of the board, taken at the beginning of the Dragon Priestess' Turn, after the Dragon Token draw had been resolved.

The Talisman Digital version of the Rising Dead Omen Card says in part: "Whenever a character is instructed to draw Adventure cards, they must draw 1 additional card at random from the discard pile."

Thus, in my example above, when the Dragon Priestess drew the Mystic Dragon Follower it should not have then drawn an additional card because the Mystic Dragon Follower Card was not an Adventure Card and the above cited effect on the Rising Dead Omen Card only applies when a character draws one or more Adventure Cards, not one or more Dragon Cards or one or more other non-Adventure Cards.
